Apparently Bebo (the social networking site) was re-launched last year. It appears to have closed down again. Any idea why? Was it any good?

I just went to Bebo's website at https://bebo.com/ and saw the following message:
We tried our best to resurrect Bebo.
To create something new and fresh.
But perhaps it wasn't new or fresh enough.
This has been a fun project built during the pandemic, but sadly it must be sunsetted. We are grateful to everyone who joined us on this journey. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Will Bebo rise again?
Who knows. It has now lived four times, been sold twice. Hmm.
It's been emotional.

It appears to be the case that the website went the way of the dinosaurs with little fanfare. Anyone know as to why it closed down? What caused Mr Birch to pull the plug?
I also went to MySpace.com today. That site is incredibly broken. What a sad state of affairs...

I know these are all pretty old comments but I heard it might be coming back again so went and looked and it seems like something is happening on the old address but just a password login for now.

I don't want to use it, I just want to access my old page for memory sake.

My favourite thing about Bebo was the huge amount of customisation you could do. The skins, the live animations, you could add music. It was definitely ahead of its time, and I seriously wish it hadn't been beaten by Facebook. Facebook sucked all of the fun out of social media. I still remember being semi-forced to migrate over back in '07.
I just checked the site, and it's now an AI eCard site called "Candles and Cakes". They've still got the Bebo logo but that's all.

They just wanted to harvest the data on the servers for AI shit :)

I miss Bebo. I used to roleplay on that site back in the day. Met a lot of really interesting people.
