How does one collect an hourly rate for themselves?

I've been given an opportunity to do some consulting work and its asked for an hourly rate. Based upon salary, mine is currently £26. Would £30 - £35 be reasonable? I've never had to do such a thing before.

£500 min. if they asked you to do it, they will pay that. Don't try and relate it to your salary

I do freelance work and the price is always more for shorter periods. If they just want an hour of your time then charge them at least double your regular pay. You've got nothing to lose, and very little to gain anyway. If they want an ongoing relationship where you do 4 hours a week for 6 months, maybe just charge 1.5x your normal rate instead.

I'd charge for at least a half day. Considering all the admin required, billing for a single hour is probably a net loss and almost certainly not worth your time.

£80 an hour or £500 a day. Advising farmers on crop inputs - big chunk to cover my insurance.
