What Should I Do About My Neighbour's Dog?

Hey, so 1 of my neighbours has a dog that's loudly wailing & I'm not sure what course of action to take, if any. It's currently happening at 5am, but has been happening at various times of the day, from mornings, afternoons & evenings. I really have no idea what to do here & have never owned a dog before, so I'm not really sure what the reasons behind this could be (& if the dog's even ok). I'm also not 100% sure which 1 of my neighbours it even is & it's been difficult to figure out so far.

In my limited experience it would depend on how you define wailing. Some dogs, rescues for instance (again in my experience), can tend to make a bit of noise more often. But I think there's a difference between normal barking and wailing. Regardless though, you're asking because it's keeping you up. I don't think there's much you can do besides try to determine which neighbours dog it is and having a chat with them about it

Thanks, it's only recently started, so I guess it being a rescue is a possibility I've not thought of & I'm guessing it potentially may not be as frequent over time. I'll try to figure out which neighbour it is & talk to them, although it's just difficult in the area I'm in as it'll be out of view in a back garden somewhere.

If its recently started it's possible they've just adopted/homed the dog, in which case it'll probably get used to its new environment and chill out. I'm sure your other neighbours are getting pissed off too lol, it'll probably sort itself out tbf. Maybe invest in some earplugs for now
