Has anyone tested the ebikes from temu?

They look nice but temu is obviously a site for cheap Chinese made stuff. Usually other sites charge like $1000-$2000 for bikes that look like this. On the other hand I've also gotten legitimate products from Temu, I found an actual Nintendo Switch on there for like $60 cheaper than on Amazon once so some of these might be actual steals but at the sametime i think it's good to be extra cautious with e-bikes. I don't really need another e-bike, ive already got a DIY e-mountain bike and an e-scooter, just tempted to get another.

Also ich habe mir eins gekauft letztes Jahr.
thatjonesey@reddit
Did the bike come mostly put together?
tombo0104@reddit
Yess, the stuff to put it together was inside as well. All in all still very good, after 2 years. I drove over 1700km with it, but inhale to change the breaks. Still, pretty good.
thatjonesey@reddit
Do these bikes come mostly put together?
Existing_Intention60@reddit
Is anyone commenting that has actually bought one cause that’s why we’re here. Not for your opinions in temu lol
rocky1231@reddit
I bough 3 Temu ebikes. 2 from the brand Urlife, and another i forgot the name of. 2 for my children and 1 for me. I've put 500 miles on mine. my children have put more on theirs. The bikes hold up better than the more expensive one i bought on Amazon. People should stop associating China with cheap parts. American companies get all their parts from there anyways.
Zealousideal_Math_31@reddit
Nothing but truth!!! I have brought some nice things on temu and been happier then the same type that was way more

I got a Hezzo F6 scooter that seems pretty dang solid. I love it. Dirt cheap when you compare the specs on it to anything similar. Paid $820. Easily a $1600+ scooter. In talks with same company about getting an “EODES Viking Z30” thing looks MEAN and id be getting it on the low low 🫣🤫 I’ll let yall know how it goes but judging by the scooter vs my brothers “legit company scooter” (guess what, also Asian company go figure 😱 most are at their core) I can only imagine that bike is a BEAST compared to its $2500+ “legit” brothers and sisters of the E-bike world. If I skip this I too will be getting a Ouxi V8. Great reviews aside from its brakes and only $550 on Temu. People still calling Temu a scam and such are just missing out on the same products they’re buying on Amazon or even in some stores but paying overhead markup prices.
TL;DR YES, Temu has great electric bike/scooter options. Be sure to do proper research! I find it best to research what you want, then find the “legit” brand and compare. Essentially you’re just buying the knock off brand. These ALL, legit or “not”, come from Asia more or less.

I recently made my first purchase on Temu, on behest of a friends reccomendation. I am blown away at the security camera i purchased for $22.00. Solar powered and works flawlessly!
Never thought I would be a Temu fan but here I am.

"DO NOT" get an Ebike bike from Temu, I purchased one on there two days later it stopped working requested my money back got nothing I'm still in the legal battle with him right now in which case I have opted to contact the Federal trading Commission the Attorney General's office as well as my lawyers

I recently bought a Vivi grey electric mountain bike , large tire , 'High Stepper". It cost $400 and some odd dollars, I could not get the handle bars to connect well enough to control the front tire. The website does not give the model number for my bike, all the models that are included in the instructions do not match my bike, and they all have a long tube that connects the handle bar to the front tire, my bike ride not come with such metal tubing, I'm assuming it's already in there, but the part I have to connect does not connect very well. In short I had a professional e bike shop come pick the bike up...it will cost $190. It's been over a week and they haven't called me back yet! I have my fingers crossed they can put the dam thing together!!! If not I have to figure out how to return it. All the while will I be out of $190 plus shipping!??? I have to let you know the out come... 😔

I was shipped a purportedly brand-new cell-phone by a major carrier only to have it arrive broken and unusable. When I tried to return it, it "magically" got lost in the mail/transit, and Affirm has been dunning me every since. Shady service and shoddy products are not limited to the PRC. It's a feature, not a bug of capitalism, and why we need highly regulated markets.
No-What4858@reddit
That's is not a feature of capitalism. At all. China is a communist country, you know that. You are trying to get something for nearly nothing, knowing their employees are being paid slave wages. You really on the PRC to keep them in check. You and everyone else see the bad reviews yet the drive to buy junk makes you overlook the fact you'll have no recourse in getting satisfaction from the company. Slaves, shyster companies, evil governments and and greedy customers. That ain't capitalism by a long shot.
de_swove@reddit
I don't disagree with most of what you said, but slaves, seedy companies, evil governments, and greedy customers describe capitalism pretty damn well.
yeolderoyalpudding@reddit
And communism to a T. You forgot that part.
Prestigious-Ad2140@reddit
Describes Communism of 60 years ago. Things can and do change. Communism in itself is not bad, it is the fact it was easily corrupted to serve the minority rich. American Capitalism in itself is not bad, it is the fact it was easily corrupted to serve the minority rich. One area where China allowed Capitalism was in privatising the Housing Market. What is China's biggest problem today? Affordable homes. Go figure.

flortny@reddit
China is not communist, the state controls largely privatized industry, calling china communist is a misnomer, it's more some dictatorial capitalism which has worked out really well. I'm pretty sure this is the model of government freshly installed in the USA, the 20th century was an huge experiment in governments and china won.
Odd_Apricot_3652@reddit

Hmmmm, starving millions of peasants because they used fabricated agricultural information from Russia and enslaving millions of uighyars currently, 1 out of 5 cotton items made globally CURRENTLY is grown and made by uighyars in concentration camps.....or.....killing almost 60,000 children over 2300 dead soldiers.....also keeping a population in open air prisons for almost 75 years while destroying any chance of a two state solution. They are both really bad, i say we combine them, since china certainly won't fit in Israel, we should make all the Israelis move to china and give Palestine back to the Palestinians.....the chinese and Israelis should get along really well.....how long before china is using Israelis to train AI weapons on killing people with round eyes?
Dull_Carry_4550@reddit
china is communist
BiscuitsUnlimited@reddit
China is a State capitalist country, much like Russia.
flortny@reddit
No, it's not, communism means 100% state ownership of industries, china only owns a portion of their businesses, under true communism Jack Ma couldn't be a billionaire. China is some amalgamation of autocratic capitalism, and it's the model for the future united states.
Dull_Carry_4550@reddit

Annual_Ad522@reddit
"Communism" doesn't have a clear definition in modern America. It usually means BAD, even if it means free health care and minimal homelessness. Neither China nor Russia fit the textbook definition of communist. There are private billionaires in both countries.
In order to get around the term, most countries us some version of "socialist" in their own description. France is socialist, for example.

Prestigious-Ad2140@reddit
Do you have evidence that the Chinese are paid slave wages in modern day China? They seem to be able to afford to eat out at night and you don't see homeless. What about the USA where it is generally reported that many need second or third jobs just to survive. What is your definition of Capitalism? I think it can be summarised as "Maximising profit over all else". Do you disagree?

seems like a decent wager. It's all made in China anyway - either I pay $1,400 retail at Costco or $400 through temu. I realize I won't get any customer service nor be able to return the thing - but I might be able to get my card provider to help out.
Significant_Duck_492@reddit
Because you save heaps more money by cutting out the middle man. I buy ultralight camping equipment off Temu and it's the exact same product from REI just half the price or less. Example: titanium kettle is $8 from Temu, $36 locally. Same kettle.

No-Raise3529@reddit
Is that bike from the 1800s? Electric motors existed before gas ones.
Ohm_Slaw_@reddit
They are taking ebikes out of the consumer market in mainland China and selling direct into the US. Consumer protections and safety regulations are very weak there. Construction and components will be bottom tier. The battery will be one of those you read about on the news.
Significant_Duck_492@reddit
China is the #1 manufacturer in the world, you are just brainwashed by American propaganda. Go to China. Their stuff is nice, they export trash to the US bc that's what we order.
8Vril@reddit
Very good point. China, like the US or any country, has their good, better, high and poor quality products. The US buys their poor or good quality products at wholesale cost and turns around, changes the name and sells it for triple the cost to everyone else. They buy hydro, lumber, natural resources and minerals from Canada for dirt cheap and then sell it for triple back to us and the rest of the world.
Ohm_Slaw_@reddit
Thanks for the viewpoint. I know there some high quality Chinese brands, Frey comes to mind. I have a couple of Chinese bikes that are sort of mid-range. They are not bad at all.
We do see a lot of posts on here "I only have $400, what bike can I get?"
SnooDoubts9079@reddit
I wonder myself. But considering Temu just supplies Chinese food. Ebikes would be no different. Aventon which is the #1 ebike company is US owned but the e-bikes are manufactured in chinese. I'd say this could be subjective and really matter for the quality of the Battery more than anything.

Like if you want a cheap electric bike, the Lidl had some discounted for like €1300. Those had a mix of A and B parts, but in general pretty good, especially for the price. I haven't personally bought an eBike from Temu, but I'm currently looking at them. I saw someone comment "you get what you pay for" and that's BS. I bought a chinese clone of Honda's Grom motorcycle for $1,000. The Honda is closer to 4 grand. Now the clone was a little bit slower than a real Grom, maybe 10 miles an hour slower? The clone could do about 40-45 miles and hour where the grom can do 50-55 I believe. But for only $1,000 the chinese grom clone was a steal and a better value than the Grom in my opinion.
Another example, I bought some knock off "Air Force One" sneakers on Temu for $17. Were they as good as the real thing? No, but they still look pretty good and didn't cost me $100. I say take the chance on the Temu bike. That's what I'm going to do!
Third example and I'll shut up... I was looking at stand up paddle board reviews the other day, and the reviewer kept trying to say how you need to buy one of the expensive $1,000 paddle boards because the $100-$200 boards are garbage and you'll tip over and they won't work. Wrong! The $200 board I bought from Retrospec works just as good as the $1,000 boards they sell at the trendy Bote paddle board shop in downtown Austin.
Don't listen to these "you get what you pay for" dummies. So many companies out there banking on fools that believe that saying. They even teach this in business school. You can make your product more desirable to many simply by charging more for it.

Guess I will let you all know, I bought a likebike shine s from temu over a year ago, and the only thing I've had to replace was a controller and rear motor. My advice is that whatever you do decide to purchase, take good care of it if you want it to last or upgrade it when you can to create your own version of an ebike. I paid $450 for this, by the way. Bought it for a 10-mile commute to work. Now it's a backyard dirtbike, lol it served its purpose. *
pepe64@reddit
I’ve ordered a couple of things from Temu. They were total crap, on par with the worst cheapest stuff you can find on Amazon. They are cheaper than Amazon, but ordering and returning takes about 3x as long, and you will get endless spam from them. If that sounds like a place you want to order an Ebike from, go ahead. I suggest you find greener pastures…
thephillatioeperinc@reddit
They have local warehouses now, and the last thing I ordered (charbroil grill replacement burners) came in 2 days, and shipping was through amazon.
Former-Bar-9796@reddit
I’ve returned stuff from Temu and in fact, it was as easy as Amazon so I feel a lot of these comments are people who have an opinion about Temu but have never used it before.
Significant_Duck_492@reddit

Plastic_Ad8920@reddit
I've purchased many things on Temu. Some hit and some miss. I'm currently looking at e-bikes on there right now and wondering the same as you. I found the exact same bike on temu that I currently have in my Amazon cart... But for $200 cheaper. It made me wonder why is it cheaper? Part of it could be simply because they buy their products directly from Chinese manufacturers. So it eliminates the middleman, the distribution etc. This allows them to lower the price. But also they are mass sale driven for minimal profit. They would rather have a ton of sales with small profit than a few sales with big profit. They also buy in bulk from these manufacturers which gives them a lower cost. All of these things help them sell things for cheaper prices. And sometimes that all it is. You're getting the same product for less. But other times you're getting a clone/counterfeit with much cheaper parts or in this case battery cells. And that's what makes me nervous. Most important part of an e-bike is the battery pack. If it is a cheaply made and sourced battery that doesn't last long and is going to go faulty after a few months... Then it's not worth the initial discount. Kiss to replace that battery is going to cost you over $400. It's a gamble my guy
Reajmurker1983@reddit
I noticed you can't get any powerful ebikes on temu. 750w dual is the highest I can find. I'm looking for something like 2500w I am 240 6'1 750w wouldn't even move me up a hill lol
