Football games in april/may (many to choose from)

Szia everyone
I'll be in budapest from the end of april to the end (ish) of may. I'm a big football fan and would love to attend at least one or two matches (could be more). I've did some research and here are (some of) my options:
- April 26, 2025: MTK Budapest vs. Diósgyőri VTK at Új Hidegkuti Nándor Stadion.
- April 26, 2025: BVSC-Zugló vs. Soroksár SC at Szőnyi úti Stadion.
- May 3, 2025: Ferencvárosi TC vs. Puskás Akadémia FC at Groupama Aréna.
- May 10, 2025: Újpest FC vs. Debreceni VSC at Szusza Ferenc Stadion.
- May 10, 2025: Budafoki MTE vs. FC Ajka at Promontor utcai Stadion.
- May 11, 2025: Vasas FC vs. Békéscsaba 1912 Előre at Illovszky Rudolf Stadion
- May 17, 2025: Ferencvárosi TC vs. Fehérvár FC at Groupama Aréna.
- May 18, 2025: Vasas FC vs. Kazincbarcikai SC at Illovszky Rudolf Stadion.
I've understood that Ferencvarosi and Ujpest are the two biggest club. Is it still worth it to look at the smaller club? My hometown club is not that big (20k capacity) but I've seen games at emirates, velodrome, camp nou, etc. I'm just looking for a good time.
I've read a few things and would love if anyone would could ''check proof'' them:
- Most teams do not sell tickets that much in advance
- appart from the derbies, it's not that difficult to buy tickets
- some teams require a member card to buy tickets
Some other questions:
Are ultras welcoming in most teams? At home I grab tickets in the ultras sections and this is where I like it the best. I don't want to be an intruder with the local ultras.
Is it easy to buy gear/scraves at the listed stadium? Groupama seems like the big thing but some seem like smaller stadiums.
Any other ''faux-pas'' I should'nt do in budapest stands? Just to be sure.
Finally, if anyone here is a fan and would like to attend a game or grab a beer before a game, don't hesitate!
Köszönom

What’s the best way to buy tickets ? At the stadium ? Online before hand? Does Europe have a version of stub hub?

1: MTK stadium is quite interesting, lots of History to read about futball (not just in Hungary...), if you follow through the names there. The building itsels is ok, the game will be lackluster and barely any people attending.
2: That is a lower level game. Not much to expect, wouldn't advise.
3: FTC stadium is nice, most attendees in HUN, if you can buy a ticket, sure, go ahead, will be like any other European team's game.
4: It is far out from the city, the stadium is old, but there will be a lot of people and most likely both ultras will chant, plus game might be interesting.
5: The pitch (not a stadium) is far out of the city, hard to get to, but it has a nice view. Not many people to attend, game is lower level, but from a touristic POV, you got to see more of the outskirts plus nice view.
6: New stadium, medium hardness to get to, the game might be interesting, also a medium level of attendees.
7: Same as the above when I mentioned FTC. Also this might be their championship celebration. I don't think you will get tickets...
8: Same as I mentioned above at Vasas.
DO NOT expect visually enjoyable football, something along UK Championship lower table gameplay. Attendees are usually below 1000 on lower level games, mid table might be around 3-4000 people. UTE and FTC games might promise more people.
DO NOT go to the ultras sector. Not because of their bad behaviour, but because the securities won't care about you if something happens, like you get burned or alike. They might even try to frame you, especially since you don't speak the language and don't have support.
I am also preparing an Italy football holiday around these weekends (timing not final for me either...), so I likely cannot join you.

Do you have any advice on when and how to buy tickets? My boyfriend and I are planning to go to the match on May 3rd. We are from the US and will be in Budapest during this time. I was looking online at the Groupama Arena website and there wasn't a clear way to buy tickets. I just want to make sure we didn't need to buy tickets super far in advance and if we would be fine just buying them day of. Any help would be appreciated. This post also has been incredibly helpful, so thank you!!

This is where you can check it out. I don't know how much before they start selling tickets, maybe 2 weeks before. You can change the language to english. https://meccsjegy.fradi.hu/
Worst case, in front of the stadium there is a possibility to purchase.

Thank you so much!!!

This is an amazing answer, thank you so much for your whole insight.
I'll see what I can do, worst case scenario, do you think it's worth going to watch the game in a bar?
Humorpalanta@reddit
Yeah, sure. There are a shitton of places where you can watch futball. Usually the issue is to figurr out what they will broadcast.
As for FTC games, I do not know if they have a specific bar for the fans. I do not like them therefore do not know many supporters who actively visit their games.
They used to have a place near Klinikák but I think not anymore. Maybe someone will see the comment and advise.

Who do you support if you don't mind saying?
Humorpalanta@reddit
I am from Budapest but Debrecen (DVSC) had a great team like 20 years ago and I fell in love. Nowadays I rarely go to games.
Quasar013@reddit
Mindörökké, hajrá Debrecen!

Thanks for all your infos. You've been very helpful

Ferencváros - Puskás should be the highest quality game, as the two teams are in a title fight, but from a fan perspective it is still pretty insignificant, as Puskás is a plastic club without any supporters. If you go with this game, you will easily be able to get tickets in the home ultras section, and you will be fine, just don't stand in the middle, or bottom few rows in that sector. Újpest - Debrecen and Ferencváros - Fehérvár aren't bad choices either.

Thanks a lot!

I would definetely recommend one of the FTC games to any tourists, the stadium is very nice and new, and it can be easily reached by public transport (M3 metro). I am totally objective in this matter, since I do not really watch football, but that club has a loads of fans and the atmosphere is cool, and they also have a decent fan shop there.

If you like football or supporting don’t do this to yourself. Outside of FTC there are like 300 people in attendance in a game.
