Have Liqourice Allsorts lost quality?

Got a box of these for Xmas, I used to love them. Just tried them last night and the fondant was powdery soft with no firmness at all and you couldn't really taste the liqourice

Most sweets, chocolate and other confectionery has declined in quality over the past decade or so tbh.

The only question is generally how much because of cost cutting and how much because of successive bans and restrictions on anything delicious because actually parenting your kids or having any restraint is now a lost concept.
DrHenryWu@reddit
A mix of both I think. Can't even get a nice drink as a treat anymore, all taste of synthetic sweetener
Beartato4772@reddit
Yep. I think it's just Coke plus a couple of the flavours that are sugar now, short of buying super premium brands. But less reported is how many other manufacturers are getting the "Nice product, shame if it got taxed" bit and virtually all crisps, chocolate etc is "Exciting new recipe (which we've fucked entirely)

Yep red coke the only one spared I believe. I used to enjoy a sprite as a treat on a hot day or instead of a beer when out. Now I just stick to fizzy water
I try not to eat too many snacks so I've noticed the decline of these products less than drinks. Feels like a race to the bottom in terms of quality and taste these days

I've decided that when a label has a "new design" so does the flavor and quality ðŸ˜ðŸ¥º

I agree. I find the fondant over powers everything and the consistency of it is off. I keep trying different brands in the hope of finding that once delicious flavour but, like the new waxy/plastic twizzlers, I am chasing a memory.Â

They have been bought out buy parent company mondelez. They ruined Cadbury chocolate and now liquorice all sorts. Quality of food in the USA is much lower than in the UK and this cheaper. P&G (American multinational company) has tried several times to buy out British company Unilever. If they ever get that then most British brands of foods will decline

I had some today and was thinking the same- the taste and texture of the liquorice is just wrong now; it is much sweeter than it used to be and is almost a gummy consistency rather than firm. The fondant layers seemed to much thicker than the liquorice layers too so makes them even sweeter.

I had some recently and they were definitely a lot sweeter than they used to be, which to me was a positive. I do like liquorice whether it's sweet or not, but I have a sweet tooth so it I thought it tasted nicer.

My late mother was a health visitor in the 70s, in the region of the allsorts factory. She said the amount of scabies she saw, put her off them for life.
Pointless story of mine to which you are welcome!

The answer is definitely yes.
I hate liquorice with a passion, family have always found it funny to trick me into eating it, it's not funny anymore because the taste has changed that it doesn't give me that revolted reaction.Â
The smell is still vile but it doesn't match the flavour it has.Â
ImJustARunawaay@reddit
I know in my heart we all like different things but liquorice is one thing that my brain just can't fathom somebody enjoying.
It's not just dislike,it's actual revulsion
Tumeni1959@reddit
They did Fruit Allsorts for a while, with a fruit filling replacing the liquorice. They were great.
I eat the fondant and spit out the liqourice.
InfiniteBaker6972@reddit
They’re defo not as delicious as they used to be. I think the actual liquorice has become sweeter as well.
