Quest Hub e-bike. With unplugged PAS cable, throttle and lights work. When plugged in, nothing works.

Hey all.
I purchased two used Quest hub motor e-bikes on marketplace. One of them I got working just fine. The other has a couple issues.
I gained access to the controller and noticed the PAS plug was disconnected. Currently the throttle works fine but no PAS (obviously). With the PAS cable unplugged I get both front and rear lights to turn on and have full throttle. When I plug in the PAS cable I lose all functionality of the bike. PAS does not work. Throttle does not work and the lights do not turn on. The display lights up as usual and now shows the wrench symbol with a number 9 error which according to the manual says 'check display'.
Can this be a controller issue? I took the PAS sensor off the bike and inspected it and everything is clean and looks normal and the magnets are all accounted for.

I had hoped to get feedback from the community re: my issue but didn't get a response. Luckily I have two identical bikes. I swapped out the PAS sensor from the bike with the other bike which I knew was working. And with the other sensor installed it worked right away. The lights worked as well. Which basically means it was a bad cadence sensor.
So I ordered a new sensor from Amazon. Unfortunately after swapping the new sensor it did not work. I thought perhaps I bought an incorrect device. But what i finally realized was that the lines (wires) on the new sensor were in a different configuration than my bike. Even though it was the same 3 pin SM plug, the colored wires were in a different order than what the Quest bike had. I swapped the wires, reconnected and presto, it's working again. Hope this problem helps someone else in the future.

Hi I have similar Ebike as you but black Quest SR Suntour NEXe25. has same issue, throlled to full and few seconds later no power on the bike. Fully charged and lights turns on, only to recover again is to turn off and on to get going again but issue is there. So where is thid PAS sensor located and where in amazon I should be looking for? thanks

I don't think this is the same issue.
The PAS sensor is located on the left hand side of the bike by the pedal.
The second photo shows the sensor and the third photo shows where it's attached on the bike.
My bike never had the throttle to full then no power issue.
My issue was a disconnected cadence sensor, that when connected showed an error code. In addition the throttle and lights would not work.
The PAS sensor is connected inside the frame to the controller box. To gain access you have to remove the battery, undo some screws. Remove the black plastic cover then slide the controller up (at least on my bike). In order to slide the controller up you need to disconnect the motor controller cable from the wheel hub and slide it back inside the frame to give you some leeway with the cables.
Search PEDAL ASSIST SENSOR on amazon and a bunch will come up. The problem for me and my quest bike was that very few had 3 pin SM connectors and the one i purchased had the wires in a different order than my bike used. It wasn't until i figured this out that I got my bike rewired and working again.
Best of luck.

Thanks and yeah went back to check the bikes pedal housing and it’s not the same. There’s more components than what you have, so I’m going to take it apart this summer and figure out from there.
