Hi,
My girlfriend's son wants to get a new computer coming from a 7700k + 980. Here's what we have so far but want to make sure it is the best for a $1.5k budget and will last a long time.

Thanks for your input.

Spending $1.5k on a kid that’s not yours is insane.

I don't how much Deepcool Ak620 will cost you but Thermalright Peerless Assassin is $35 and is also one the best air cooler currently.

What games is the kid gonna be playing that they need a 50 series and how old is the kid?
Just in case theyre like 9 and playing games that absolutely wont need a next gen build

Getting that 5070 for that price is probably gonna be like hitting the lottery lol

Are they going to be very limited stock?
RBisoldandtired@reddit
There are already news of pre-planned shortages leaking from around the internet... they will manaufacture a shortage for higher prices.

Most likely

Do you already have the 9800x3d? I’d definitely not go with that on a $1500 budget

Yeah, we already bought it in a combo (cpu+mobo deal) because it was in short supply and a seems like very powerful CPU.

This would have been my list on a 1500 budget. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VCwDzP Maybe throw in a fan or two.

Thanks. Is it reliable though?

Yeah

The chances of getting a new 50 series for msrp is probably pretty low. If history repeats itself most will be bought up and resold for atleast 30% over msrp. Sucks but maybe this time it'll be diffeent

Hmm, I saw this post which said that we just need to head to a Microcenter when it opens:

Also said that 5070s won't really be sold out or in too much demand. Are you thinking about a 5080/90?
