It’s time… Nicholas Air Job Offer

Hello yall, I’m sure you’ve seen the ads online to go to Nicholas air and fly. For those of you who are current employees and or got through the hiring process or know of people who did, what was the contracts like? Overall thoughts of company in the first year of working there? Do they have posted salaries that show what the normal ranges are to go fly their airplanes as SIC and or PIC? What recommendations do you have to ask the company if you were to get hired right now?

Get used to the phenom… it’s the worst piece of machinery in the world.
Otherwise, I hear upgrades are quicker than contracting gonorrhea from a hooker… so that’s a plus
DatBeigeBoy@reddit
Why’s the phenom so bad?

I wouldn't work there even though I'm starting to barely get by now but I will say I find it quite humorous that all the people saying "don't go there" and "don't sign that contract" are the ones who are already living in the promised land.
Picklemerick23@reddit
Never worked for them, but I rushed them HARD during Covid. I connected with a recruiter via LinkedIn and I hassled him until I was eventually given a phone interview. It was fine.
A few days later, however, I was flying Angel Flight into Asheville, NC and say a Nicholas Air crew and I introduced myself. They seemed normal enough, but they advised me away from the company. The main reason was a lack of flying and general BS. For example, that it wasn’t uncommon to have the jet in certain airports, where the pilots would just sit around, and try to sell flights. This was common in the fall during football season.
At the end of the day jet time is jet time, however, id likely avoid.

“Unlike most private jet companies, at NICHOLAS AIR, we own and operate our modern fleet. Members have access to one of the youngest fleets in the industry ensuring fewer mechanical interruptions and providing members the peace of mind and comfort of having the most modern, and safe equipment. Piloted by only the most veteran aviators, our crew members are not only highly trained in airmanship but also customer service. No Unions or Union mentality here. This is the NICHOLAS AIR difference.“
That second to the last sentence was a wild departure from everything else. Tells me everything I need to know about how they feel about their pilots, and I bet it’s excluding from some clientele more than it attracts the clientele that they are trying to attract.
brucebrowde@reddit
Curious who would consider this a positive (either as a prospective pilot or as someone writing that message at NICHOLAS AIR). Actually, curious who wouldn't consider this a "don't walk, run immediately" signal.
homeinthesky@reddit
You’d be surprised. I’m an ALPA member and I can’t tell you how infuriating it is to listen to certain other guys I fly with do nothing but bad mouth unions while they ride high on the contract and quality of life a union gave them. The hypocrisy is real
brucebrowde@reddit
In what way do they perceive unions as detrimental?
radioref@reddit
I believe it was what they learned on the TV in a break room somewhere.
Worried-Ebb-1699@reddit
I love calling them out on it then ask what they plan to do about it…
It shuts them up FAST
Oregon-Pilot@reddit
I ran across some good ol boys at Flexjet who much prefer the lifestyle of getting reamed by their employer over having to “put up with” a union. SMDH.
brucebrowde@reddit
Huh... Well there are all sorts of us on this Earth 🤪
radioref@reddit
“Our pilots get their asses in line, follow instructions from management, and do what they are told. The south will rise again, MAGA!”
jewfro451@reddit
Lmfao. The confeds trying to make a comeback.
x4457@reddit
They're headquartered in Oxford, MS - what did you expect?

Mititipi
LugubriousFootballer@reddit
No unions or union mentality here at Nicholas Air. We expect our “aviators” to eat dog shit and be happy for the privilege!
Fuck off. The more people know about shit-tier companies like this, the sooner they can cease to exist.
beastboy4246@reddit
As someone who doesn't have a lot of ears in the industry yet this thread was amazing.
twistenstein@reddit
There was a great post on APC that boiled it down. "Over W&B? Fedex your flight bag home and buy clothes at Walmart".
SkyhawkPilot@reddit
Is this the place with the baby blue epaulets?
ndem763@reddit
And the recruitment video with the cool captain riding his motorcycle in slow motion
x4457@reddit
You know why they're advertising? Because they can't keep anyone, and anyone who knows anything about working there will tell you not to. I need to be careful about what I say because they're so litigious that they will absolutely issue C&Ds for negative social media comments.
You should do some research into how they treat former employees (particularly in court), some of their maintenance-related incidents, and the lifestyle working there.
Capital-Cricket-1010@reddit
would you say its about the same as netjets?
x4457@reddit
Not even remotely fucking close. NetJets is a top 3 business aviation employer, Nicholas Air is below about 50 feet of whale shit and slightly above paying for a seat.
EsquireRed@reddit
Genuinely curious of your list of top 3-5 business aviation employers.
x4457@reddit
NetJets, Flexjet, EJM, Solairus, Jet Aviation
Brief-Focus-593@reddit
3-5 worst
x4457@reddit
I can't narrow it down that far.
homeinthesky@reddit
Agreed, it’s very hard to get the worst because the majority of the larger companies are pretty decent to their pilots. But the mom and pop shops all over the place that no one knows about unless you’re deep in the industry or local to that area, a ton of them are bottom feeders who are totally shit employers.
EsquireRed@reddit
Thank you!
ThatLooksRight@reddit
So….about the same, then?
Stocksonnablock@reddit
I’m dead 😂 funniest shit ever. So true
legitSTINKYPINKY@reddit
What😭😭
ILikeFlyingAlot@reddit
No, NetJets is on the other end of the spectrum.
nascent_aviator@reddit
If you don't like the job and leave bad reviews online they'll sue you. https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/68060829/nicholas-services-llc-v-glassdoor-inc/
That's probably a red flag.
Glad-Length-2468@reddit
I think there’s a whistleblower lawsuit from a few years ago that details some of their operation.
Emotional_Judge_4662@reddit
I mean the real question is how bad is the pay.. (asking for a friend.. ME) prob a lot better than being a CFII
RaiseTheDed@reddit
Every single time someone asks about them, people say the same thing: avoid.
IMO, if an aviation company has to aggressively advertise jobs, especially in a market like right now, that would be a massive red flag. Companies that treat their employees well don't need to advertise.
mrivc211@reddit
When has a pilot not bitched about their job?
Legacy pilots are making top pay and still moan n groan
H4ppenSt4nce@reddit
Are you just being contrarian or did you work there? Useful information bud.
RaiseTheDed@reddit
I don't think it's normal bitching.

I agree with you lol, never heard a single good thing.
landcruiser33@reddit
Rabidly anti-union as well. Fuck that place.
EdBasqueMaster@reddit
I have never heard a positive about Nicholas Air.
The worst pilot I’ve ever known went there to be chief pilot and got fired within like a week back in 2018 lol.
After having had a LOT of jobs in this world, I honestly would pass on this.
GooseMcGooseFace@reddit
They’re looking for people with skeletons in the closet. If they even get a whiff you’ll be gone to a better operation in less than 5 years, you’ll receive a “thanks but no thanks.”
The only people who should consider working for Nicholas Air are those who can’t get hired anywhere else. As a buddy put it, “what in the 3 DUIs are you doing applying to X!”
554TangoAlpha@reddit
Never heard anything good about them.
Anti_CSR@reddit
Search the sub. They’ve been discussed a lot on here. Overall hard pass.
StrangeCow6712@reddit
I’ve heard you fly airplanes
