What is an aviation career like?

Hello all. I'm 23 and currently have about 4 lessons with 6 hours and counting in flight time. My goal is air force so that's the motivation but after that or if that doesn't work out then what careers are in aviation that aren't so obvious? What's the life like? Do you regret pursuing aviation? Any other advice would be appreciated.

You wanna make a shit ton of money? Continue your piloting career outside of the military.
If you want to serve your country just go into the Air Force now.
Both are great careers you just need to decide what it truly is that you want. I’m a 31 veteran just starting my aviation career as a pilot and I’m loving everyone minute of it. I joined the military because I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I got out and became and engineer and did that for 6 years and I guess I still didn’t know what I wanted to do.
If you know what you want to do just go for it man.

Have you searched the sub for “regret”?

He should search for "worth it". Those are always fun and productive threads.

If your goal is air force stop taking lessons and let them pay for everything. You’ll be in for 8-10 years from the research I’ve done

If your plan is to go into the air force and you haven't figured this stuff out already I would highly recommend pausing and doing a LOT more research. It sounds like you already have a degree, so you're looking at OTS, either guard/reserve or active duty. Be aware that these are all very competitive programs, with 1-2 year timelines just to get to training. Finishing USAF pilot training also comes with a 10 year commitment. There's tons of info out there already, take a couple days and look at it.
