Thoughts on Lift Academy:

Recently saw someone post about Lift on Reddit, and I was wondering if anyone has had an experience with them. I’m just now starting my flight school journey, so I am trying to research the best options for me. I see they have a discounted rate and they get you in with Republican after graduation (which offers job security), but it’s been my experience with most of these flights schools that they try to sale you on a dream and not reality. Also can anyone speak of their training structure (see picture). Would it be more beneficial to go the part 135 route, or would you gain more in your career to go the CFI, CFII, MEI route. Thanks!

Update: For anyone interested in Lift Academy: I am a strong believer for everyone to do their own research, and this instance does not differ. However, please don’t waste your time with Lift Academy. I decided to attend one of their group meetings where they discussed the program and gave students a chance to do a Q&A. I decided to press on some topics that were at the top of my priority list (graduation rate, cost of admission, contract with Republic, etc). Every question that didn’t highlight Lift was met with “I’m not sure” or “I’ll have to look into that.” When asked about the graduation rate, they blamed the students and not the program (“a lot of our students are ready to be a pilot”). Everything that was mentioned was pure predatory to pull the wool over your eyes to get you to fork over $90,000. Again, do your own research, but please be diligent in doing so. When the body of evidence points one way consistently, chances are it is true.

That’s the post I was referring to in my original comment. Just doing some additional research on it since one person’s open doesn’t encompass an entire subreddit.

Read the FAQ. Do not go to LIFT.
