Looking for advice on upgrading a London rental with £3k betting winnings
Just won big on a lucky bet and want to make my rental feel more homely without losing the deposit. Budget is £3k, any suggestions welcome!
Some key points I'm considering:
* Upgrading white goods - thinking about a proper washer/dryer combo since London flats rarely have outdoor drying space. Current one sounds like it's on its last legs (£500-700)
* Getting decent blackout curtains/blinds for all rooms. London street lights are killer and current ones are paper thin (£300-400)
* Investing in proper storage solutions - those IKEA PAX wardrobes with internal organizers since London rentals never have enough storage (£600-800)
* Quality mattress topper and bedding - figure I spend 1/3 of my life in bed so worth splashing out (£300-400)
* Portable AC unit for summer - last year was brutal in my south-facing flat (£400-500)
That leaves about £500 for smaller bits like plants, rugs, lamps, artwork etc to make it feel more homely.
Landlord is pretty chill but want to make sure everything is removable when I eventually move. Any other suggestions? Did I miss anything obvious?

You made this bet using the $5000 you stole from your brother’s college fund?

$/£'s... Doesn't add up at all.
OP obviously lying and has at least one alternative account which uses to try and back himself up with!

Assuming this isn't all bs anyway they stole $5000 which is about £4000 or so then won it big at a loss of £1000, classic gambler never talks about the loss only the win.

Where do you live?

For blinds, check out blinds by post, they have great no drill options including ones that blackout, thermal, etc. (Of course depends on the window type, but I found cheaper the curtains and take up a lot less space!) Blackout was so worth the investment for sleep quality!
For bedding, I can't recommend Bamboo sheets enough, similar to silk but cheaper. They are soft, regulate temperature well and supposedly hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, antibacterial etc!

paying back the money you stole maybe?
