Is the qlife racer ebike any good ?

I’ve seen YouTube reviews about it being pretty good and the reviews aren’t bad and I’ve been thinking about getting one should I??
Embarrassed-Mall-318@reddit
Compared with other e-bikes I’ve had it’s not very good. It is extremely vulnerable to water so it shouldnt be ridden in the rain. The brakes are adequate, but not capable of locking the tires, and you want to brake early at high speeds. It’s good only for the price, but I wish I would have just saved for longer to get something more reliable in rough weather.
Embarrassed-Mall-318@reddit
Update: Today my bike stopped giving pedal assist. My Q-life racer only lasted 5 months riding to work in rain and snow.
portotransmission8sp@reddit
Amazing it lasted that long. Its not for rain and snow.
MoreManufacturer5571@reddit
Especially since cold weather drains batteries
tacotruckman999@reddit
That's odd that you say it's not good in rough weather because I've driven my qlife racer though some serious downpour and it held up fine aswell as the breaks.
Embarrassed-Mall-318@reddit
The manual says not to get it wet. It’s nice that yours is holding up, but mine only lasted a few months dealing with rain and snow. The motor still works by pedal assist, but nothing else on it works. My lights don’t work, speedometer and odometer don’t work. All I get is error code 30. Which means I have to replace the controller.
Kind-Information4194@reddit
They sell battery covers. you could also store inside and there are ways to waterproof the essentials. I ride mine in rain and have had zero issues. The manual does say not to get it wet though, both battery and module.
Embarrassed-Mall-318@reddit
I agree. I’ve had another e-bike that was designed for mountain biking that I could ride through 3 foot deep puddles. The racer is simply not a reliable commuter bike and that’s my main point. It’s not even good in the summer if you live somewhere where the temperatures get over 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Brief_Account_199@reddit
I gotta see a vid of riding through a 3 foot deep puddle :)
Narrow-Collection-98@reddit
DO NOT BUY THIS! I got the racer bike and the day it was outta the package and I’d charged the battery it did not work whatsoever, wouldn’t even turn on, and when you call customer service it just brings you to a mailbox where they don’t get back to you or make you false promises until it’s too late to get a refund on it
One_Passion_7524@reddit
Is there anyway that you can make this while faster using the pas menu?
FancyYear8659@reddit
Probably not.
That is to say: there are probably ways to hack the controller and remove the computer's speed limiter, which is how people get their ebikes to surpass the factory settings/advertised max speed.
However, this bike isn't all that powerful. It's running on 48v and the motor peaks at 1000w. There's a lot of math behind it, but in simple terms: 28mph is already on the higher end of its capability. Even if the controller doesn't limit the bike's speed, the bike itself probably isn't capable of pushing itself much faster than that. You also run the risk of putting too much strain on your motor if you unlock the speed limiter and make it try to go faster than it's capable of going.
So, although removing the speed limiter is a viable option on ebikes with stronger motors and batteries that can back up the higher speeds, this bike is not one of those bikes. There's not much to gain from removing the speed limiter, so it's not worth the risk of damage and a voided warranty.

Noooo don’t I was going to but I kept lookin it’s two days before I get paid again and add that to the money I have now nd get the e bike I found a cheaper e bike with 1000w name is urlife e20 e bike and motor but the motor has a little less power/torque and qlife racer has 1200w but they both go same speed 28mph but the urlife e20 can go up to max 80 miles and the qlife can go around 55 65 I’m getting urlife e20 I wanna be able to go max speed and go very far

I know this thread is kind of old but after having for a couple months my front tire popped off and I had a pretty bad accident. Broken wrist road rash on my face concussion and tooth went through my lip. If you buy this just know the materials are cheap and worth swapping out especially the tires
ComfortablePain3097@reddit
definitely buy new tires i live in a deserty city and theres so much gunk on the roads ive head flats for 4 days straight had to replaace a chamber and patch it up just because of the smallest spikes on grass new tires are worth it 100%
Potential_Scale5829@reddit
Well I've only had mines a week and error 30 has popped on my screen after I changed my back tire and I've done everything I think I was supposed to do and still not able to ride
Cantalope_bleezy@reddit
This may be an obvious question, but I’m new and have been looking at the life racer for a couple weeks now, but is it water proof? Lol
MuchVacation3638@reddit
I rode it through the rain a few times and nothing happened, well except for mud on the battery but that was easy to wipe off lol
tyfloren@reddit
I'm also curious if its worth the investment as well? I've saved up money to buy one off Amazon during Black Friday and the assembly video makes it look easy to put together.
For added context I live in Washington state in an area with lots of hills hence why I prefer an E bike over a regular bike for days when going uphill I will need the extra assistance
GS1989@reddit
I bought one recently and it came with a bent back rim and also my battery is draining quickly I'm getting at best 20 miles on a full charge it doesn't make sense when they said it last 40 miles that's false advertising.
portotransmission8sp@reddit
If your getting 20 miles without any assistance, thats great for $200. All the ebikes and scooters over advertise distance.
Few_Suggestion_4969@reddit
I paid 500 and crap if lucky get 20 miles if I peddle half of it
Kind-Information4194@reddit
You didn't read close enough. It clearly says in the advertisement 50 Miles in pas1. I average 16 miles on mine full send on the throttle. Great investment in my opinion. I ride the shit out of mine. I have had it on mt bike trails, bike paths, and road riding its been awesome! I even tend to use it in place of my truck for short jaunts to the store or gas station. Very happy with my purchase.

I bought one only rode once so far up super steep hills well worth it so far u will have to air tires up amd assemble pretty easy
Background-Youth-880@reddit
Hey hows your bike holding up? Im thinking of getting one but people seem to have some horror stories about it just not working after a month.
deathxz0@reddit
I hope you bought it because it’s worth it, it was literally only like 500 bucks but get the one with a 500w motor and 1000w peak, not the 375W, cause it’s basically like 380 bucks when you can just get the other one for like 100 bucks more and it gives you almost 10 miles per hours more , i went up steep hills easily
SensitiveIce2265@reddit
is the 375w good?
deathxz0@reddit
only thing it will lack is uphill
hiddenvalleyalley@reddit
Amazon has it for 200 bucks. I was curious if the battery and motor are interchangeable if I wanted to upgrade later.
JakeRedditYesterday@reddit
How's the range?
deathxz0@reddit
well there’s 5 modes, i mainly use mode 3-4 and i’m getting 25-30 miles
JakeRedditYesterday@reddit
That's pretty decent, especially for the price! Was either gonna get a Qlife Racer or a Fiido C21!
deathxz0@reddit
yes exactly, i tried searching for a good budget bike and the Q life racer seemed pretty reliable, different suspension fork with mechanical disc brakes , all low maintenance , the advertised 50 miles range is if you just constantly use mode 1 all the time but with generic 18650 cells it’ll last 300-400 cycles if you charge every single day from 0-100 , but I charge mine three days a week because i don’t tend to go further than 10 miles a day to my commute , so i usually keep it between 20-80% charge and per day I lose about 10-20% charge , this will give it well over 500-600 cycles before it drops to 80% capacity and even then , it’ll still give you 20 miles of range with mode 3-4, so once it drops below 70% capacity after around 800 cycles i consider it useless
Few_Suggestion_4969@reddit
No is a bs lie about the battery it maybe if peddle half of 20 miles make it home they claim 40 without peddle
justnopaym@reddit
I test rode that QLife but stuck with this road ebike—more torque and parts are easy to source.
Human-Signature1399@reddit
Horrible customer service!! I bought two bikes and both batteries were defective and cannot be charged. They asked me to purchase a multimeter and take a video of it. Told me I could return the bikes for a $300 restocking fee! Worst company ever to deal with!
KarenBPeters@reddit
So far so good! I'm a recreational user and have only ridden it several times and it's been great. I, too, read negative reviews but took the gamble to see if purchasing an e-bike would be worth the not inconsiderable expense. Wanted some PA to help with hills until I get my bike muscles back (if ever!). I am thrilled to be riding again after a 10-year hiatus (b/c of hills and one minor health issue after another...). Couldn't do it without some "e".
MotherFox9976@reddit
It is junk. Mine came in with a forks not aligned. .I been working for over a month to rectify the situation. The only came up with a solution after they got I called them several times it had them follow up with emails every time I spoke to them.
Nervous-Elk-1583@reddit
The bike is nice. Their battery arrived inoperable. They won’t provide a customer service phone number, won’t call you? YouTube site is dead and their customer service reps (only by email) demand that the consumer purchase electrical testing equipment? Learn how to use it? Take a detailed video of your testing which you then must send to them in an email before they will simply issue a return shipping label for a battery or send you a new replacement! It’s been 5 days and the only other reply was that they won’t cover return shipping on an Amazon order with a faulty product? I will never spend a dime until this unprofessional, zero customer service company actually backs their products! Extremely disappointed. Filed a complaint with Amazon and my credit card company. Maybe the freeze on payment will prompt a reply?
I may just take my time getting back to these idiots!
Unlucky-Air-3079@reddit
Hi, bought one over the summer been using since, been a solid bike. But 4 days ago got an error message on the display. Motor wasn't working, cuz the cables connecting the motor to the battery were damaged. Have not found a single means of replacing them, absolutely no contact from Qlife support. Sent at least a couple emails, and the phone number is bs. Says "please stay on the line someone WILL answer your call when they're available." Hangs up after about 5 min.
Glittering-Run6251@reddit
It is not any good it appears to be nice but I got mine on October 18th and it is now January 24th now the brakes need to be replaced the back tire needs to be replaced and those are all normal wear and tear but then I had an issue with the gears inside of the motor and I've been trying to get a hold of customer service for 3 days with no response at all now I can't even ride the bike as a regular bike you know just pedaling because it only goes a certain speed so now I got a $500 piece of scrap metal that I can't get a hold of anybody to get a replacement part for I definitely wouldn't recommend it
TommyIs_Real@reddit
Horrible. I actually just got off with amazon about mine. The front forks were welded not parallel so the tire doesnt go on. Highly don't recommend. Looking for recommendations
sourmilk11@reddit
I was thinking about ordering one but then saw issues like this in the reviews. That is super disappointing because it seems like such a good deal for what it is. Can you update here with what Amazon is able to do for you? I hope they are able to give some sort of refund. Seems like most people either get stuck with a defective bike or have to pay hundreds of dollars to have it shipped back to China. Scams like this should be illegal.
