Weekend stay

My gf and I are planning to see a show at the majestic theater in March. We've never been to Dallas and wondering if it's better to stay downtown and be walking distance to the theater and other places, and have the big parking fees (we're planning to drive). Or is there a good city outside of Dallas that has things to do and is an easy drive to downtown?
Will take any and all recommendations for places to stay, things to do, and places to eat. TIA!

Live in Collin County, but once did a weekend getaway downtown Dallas and stayed at the Magnolia Hotel. Also caught a show at the Magestic. Went for after show drinks and dessert at the Adolphus, then walked back to Magnolia.

OP. This is a good plan right here.

Sounds great!

100% stay downtown. Hall Arts Hotel is great and walking distance. La Stella Cocina Verace is an excellent spot for dinner and has live music on the weekends. In the East Quarter, also walkable, Brass Ram is a great steakhouse for a romantic meal.

If you're looking for a dinner spot, I highly recommend Cafe Momentum. It isnt too far from the majestic.

Stay downtown. I live down the street and it will be easier if you just want to walk to stuff vs driving.

We enjoy staying at the Indigo hotel and walking around downtown bar hopping. Just so happens that the Majestic is right across the street. There is a parking garage across the other street from the hotel. Plenty ro do within walking distance.

Elm and Harwood intersection: The lot next to the building (if you’re lucky to find a spot) I think it’s $20+. The parking garage across the street is pretty cheap like $5 can’t be more than $10.

The Renaissance Saint Elm is pretty nice. Two buildings down from the Majestic. Campisi’s is across the street.

I’d probably stay downtown. The Hotel Indigo nearby usually has fair rates.
