If you moved abroad, what products would you wholeheartedly miss?
Mine would 100% have to be paxo stuffing and gravy granules (it’s mental they don’t really sell them out of the uk!)
Logical_Tank4292@reddit
I did move abroad.
Surprisingly, I missed good quality cheese, baked beans and easily accessible British Television the most.
AmberAdvert@reddit
Yeah, I’d miss BBC iPlayer the most.
I’m not British and every time I go home, I’m like “just pull it up on iPlayer! Oh…”
UniqueEnigma121@reddit
VPN my friend😏
AmberAdvert@reddit
Sadly not on my elderly dad’s TV…
UniqueEnigma121@reddit
Smart stick?
Jlaw118@reddit
TV always bothers me when I’m abroad in general without living there! Which is strange we don’t really watch live TV at home, mainly Netflix and Disney but always have a flick through live TV abroad looking for some sort of comfort and there’s rarely any.
Think when we travelled to Vienna about seven years ago we ended up opting for a few Simpsons episodes in German
Ysbrydion@reddit
Watching my kids watch Italian Peppa Pig was a joy.
Logical_Tank4292@reddit
Highly recommend SmartDNS.
It's a bit technical, but got me through all of the blocks that VPNs fail to crack nowadays.
Pretty much zero lag and allowed access far and beyond just UK streaming.

I'd miss proper sausages here in France, except that I have a British farmer nearby who makes and sells his own. I used to miss crumpets, but then learned how to make them.
UniqueEnigma121@reddit
Good idea🤔
bezzleford@reddit
I think it depends where you go but when I moved abroad (Netherlands) this is what I genuinely missed:
Emile_Largo@reddit
The irritating thing is that HP sauce is now made in the Netherlands....
UniqueEnigma121@reddit
That’s why I buy Stokes
bezzleford@reddit
Wait really? That's odd
Emile_Largo@reddit
Yep. Production moved a few years ago following takeover. My plastic bottle bought on last UK trip says, "made in the Netherlands" but no further clues.
UniqueEnigma121@reddit
Robinson’s
offbeatentrack@reddit
Squash. You don't really get any (or good) squash in the UK.
mitchyban@reddit
Been in Canada since 2008, and the one thing I can't live without is Branston Pickle.
Best_Judgment_1147@reddit
I moved to Germany and I miss: - Frazzles - Space Raiders - Crumpets - Galaxy - McVities Digestives (milk choc only) - Gravy (Bisto only) - Bacon
Ysbrydion@reddit
The only things I missed and needed shipping in were tea and Lemsip.
apeliott@reddit
I miss crumpets and pork scratchings.
YeahMateYouWish@reddit
All the crumpets I've had over the past 5 years have been pretty poor quality TBF.
brunette_pawg@reddit
I’m in Canada atm and I really miss good cheese/dairy products in general, and sausages
BackgroundGate3@reddit
Move to Spain. You can buy them at The Food Co, along with most things Brits abroad can't live without foodwise.

Anyone spending an extensive amount of time in the USA, you can get 'Irish Cheddar' from the Wal-Mart Deli.
It's the ONLY proper cheese I was able to find in a mainstream supermarket out there, the rest were basically plastic.
BoulderBrexitRefugee@reddit
Whole Foods where I am has an incredible amount of quality cheeses. Cabot vintage cheddar is phenomenal.
That_Organization901@reddit
I’ve lived in some weird and rural parts and could still find a lot of the staples but what I missed the most was:
Mature cheddar. A robust Everyman cheese that you put in a sarnie or on a cottage pie. I could get all sorts of pretentious cheese from all over the world but no big standard cheddar that could cut it like a basic Cathedral City. All too weak and milky.
Chutney. For the cheese. It’s a weird concept for most. Mrs Balls in SA was the closest on all my travels but it was a weird hybrid of curry and cheese chutney that managed to not go with either, probably because it’s meant for sausages.
Marmite. I have learned to gather those wee jars to take as every Brit immigrant will be clucking for this one once the excitement of being abroad wears off. A good one for when you’re sad.
Bland sausages. Supermarket, generic, Richmond, everyday sausages. I’ve had to adapt hangovers to many different countries because fry ups are far to flavourful for my sorry state and make me emotional.
Salt and vinegar crisps. The best flavour apparently doesn’t exist. See also pickled onion flavour.
Cream of Tomato soup in a can. This with marmite toast is what I have when I’m ill so it’s noticeable in its absence. Hard to make it taste like that without the metallic bit.
Fizzy sweets. It’s a texture thing that other countries mess up.
There’s loads of amazing, tasty, flavourful, and healthy food in the world that absolutely blows all of this out of the water and I definitely tried as much as I could. I ate local and didn’t bother with American fast food etc but sometimes I would miss home and the silly bland crap I grew up with.
SnoopyLupus@reddit
Been there. Done that. Bourbon biscuits.
Ok_Cow_3431@reddit
Squash.

Bovril.

James May burner?
GlitchingGecko@reddit
Nah, he'd say spam.
Newreddituserw@reddit
Bread, fish and chips, Indian and Chinese food
Physical-Bear2156@reddit
A decent bitter or heavy ale. The only place I've found the like abroad was in Canada.
imminentmailing463@reddit
Squash, Bakewell tarts and Cadbury chocolate.
Jlaw118@reddit
I do miss Cadburys abroad but Milka is usually widespread with the same variations of Cadburys and more
imminentmailing463@reddit
I like Milka. But it doesn't have the connection with home and childhood that Cadbury's has.
Good-Rub-8824@reddit
You can get Bisto gravy granules & similar Gravox for gravy in Australian supermarkets
Jlaw118@reddit
I’m struggling to answer this one to be honest because all I’m thinking of are products you can’t get in the UK that I miss from places I’ve been abroad. Like Desperados Red and full sugar Capri Suns without the artificial sweetener
Exact-Put-6961@reddit
Top quality Cheddar, Bacon sandwiches,Kippers, Smoked Haddock. Spring Lamb. Roast Beef. Marmite, Salted Butter, Cheddar Strawberries. Bramley and Cox Apples. Fresh Milk.
Wanderlust01234@reddit
I did move abroad - squash has been the thing I’ve missed the most (whenever anyone visits, the charge is robinsons mini squeezy things!). Also crumpets. You can get marmite here, but I don’t trust it so bring that back from UK. Quavers, prawn cocktail crisps. Tbh the list is long but these are the top things!
AdPossible5121@reddit
When I lived abroad I missed marmite and crumpets the most
illllmatic3647@reddit
sounds stupid but i used to live in germany and for the life of me i couldn’t find squash. i found one of the small squeeze ones once and they were over €7 and just couldn’t justify that. sometimes you just want an orange squash
Logical_Tank4292@reddit
Living out in South Asia for four years, I couldn't find squash, only syrup - it's disgusting.
I ended up getting an import of easy squeeze squash sent out to me.
illllmatic3647@reddit
has to be done! i ended up flying with some in my carry on. i’ve had those god awful syrups too they’re terrible
