For the 3 people who care: Dutch No. 2 Old Model M95 Carbine

A Quite Rare little piece here, only a couple thousand were made, and only ~400 or so were known to exist following the war (WW2), according to Dutch military records.

Sir, may I be the 4th person that’s cares?

Very cool!
GreenHoodia@reddit
You can add one to that number
AdEnough9135@reddit
That’s sick dude I’m happy for you
Wyb0@reddit
Very interesting. Is it the same bolt pattern as the m93?
concise_christory@reddit
Same basic operation, but the Romanian and Dutch Mannlicher bolts aren’t interchangeable. The Romanian M93 ejector is fixed in the receiver and rides in a groove under the bolt, while the Dutch M95 ejector is built into the bolt head. The Dutch also went with a bigger bolt handle
Wyb0@reddit
The Dutch Mannlicher series certainly seems to be a bit more polished in design, so that makes sense. Cool rifles.
concise_christory@reddit
The bolts feel about the same, with the Dutch bolt maybe just a bit smoother in operation. The Romanian bolt has a groove cut for the sprung ejector, so it’s not dragging constantly like with a Carcano bolt
Wyb0@reddit
Just got ahold of a Carcano M91, so I understand exactly what you mean.
LegitTurd@reddit
Very cool. I have never seen one!
Blitzschwein@reddit (OP)
Honestly, the only photos I could find online were drawings lol
So I figured I’d contribute while I had the chance
Tokena@reddit
What is the magazine design type on this rifle. Is Mannlicher the term?
Blitzschwein@reddit (OP)
Sure is, it’s pretty similar to the M95 straight pull steyr’s magazine. Feeds from a 5rnd en bloc
JazzManJasper@reddit
Where did you find it?
ReactionAble7945@reddit
Rare enough it deserves a full video review. And what history does it have? Bring back from wwii? Hidden treasure in eu? Some other interesting story.
Blitzschwein@reddit (OP)
C&Rsenal had a pretty great video overviewing the overarching design and a couple of the variants, but there are a LOT of variants of the Dutch M95 to cover, so this is one that they glossed over rather quickly. Ian also had a video skimming the top of the iceberg that is these weird little Dutch carbines, but I’m not sure if it made mention of this one
TangerineEmotional66@reddit
Awesome.
Jarloo@reddit
Imma be real with you, I know how it feels when you have a cool thing that you want to show off and no one either knows or cares about it. So even though I've never heard of this before, I think its awesome and I'm happy you shared it :D
XxcOoPeR93xX@reddit
Looks like a Carcano M91 Cavalry had a baby with a Veterli 1870
mratlas666@reddit
I read that as DARE and was like is it dangerous?
Blitzschwein@reddit (OP)
It might be a little dangerous 😂
The barrel is pretty pitted, and that bayonet likes to poke the hell out of the user’s hand if it rides too far on the fore end.
VermelhoRojo@reddit
Still in 6.5x53R?
Blitzschwein@reddit (OP)
Sure is
VermelhoRojo@reddit
I like it !! Thx for sharing
bmbreath@reddit
I see some pitting and such, have you shot it?
I javelin never seen one of these before, thanks for posting an actual "forgotten weapon"
Also. What's the rear sight marked for maximum range?
Blitzschwein@reddit (OP)
I’ve actually inquired about the pitting and it should be safe to fire (the bore is pretty bad), tbh it’s sorta on the cusp of rare range toy and wall hanger, being in the condition that it’s in. Provided you can find 6.5 Dutch ammo (which is its own headache).
As for the rear sight, it’s actually a pretty intuitive rollercoaster style of sight, lots of fine adjustments and ranges from an ambitious 400-2000 meters. It’s the same as it is on the older pattern Dutch Mannlichers, and is pretty similar to the early Carcano long rifle sights and G98 sights in my opinion.
MlackBesa@reddit
I love that bayonet ! You should check out Rakum Projects on YouTube, he’s into that kind of stuff
MlackBesa@reddit
By the way I’ve been checking your profile and my god do you have cool stuff
Blitzschwein@reddit (OP)
Thank you man! To be fair, a lot of the stuff on my profile isn’t mine; quite a bit of it is just cool stuff I’ve seen in passing and stuff friends / acquaintances have which I figured I’d show off. I wish it was all mine, but I’ve been lucky enough to pick up a couple of cool things in my day lol.
GamesFranco2819@reddit
It's not often I see something new, this is one of those times. Very interesting little carbine!
