PC build for 1440p gaming; Prefer Visual Quality over FPS

Hello, Fellow Gamers! :)
I’m in the process of building my first gaming PC and would love some input. I mainly play single-player games and have little interest in FPS shooters (since, as a Data Engineer, I don’t have much time for them). My main priority is being able to enjoy these games at high or ultra settings comfortably.
Currently, I have a 1440p 144Hz monitor (Odyssey G50A 32”), and I want to get the best performance out of it for the games I play.
What’s Important to Me:
- Visuals and graphics quality: I want the best graphical experience I can get for single-player games.
What’s Not a Priority:
- FPS: I’m not focused on frame rates since I play single-player games and only have a 144Hz monitor.
- Brand Preference: I’m open to Intel, Nvidia, or AMD for both CPU and GPU.
- RTX 50 series: Not necessarily tied to that
I’ve been considering the RTX 4070 but am also open to exploring AMD options.
I live in Scandinavia and my budget is around $900 to $1300.
Any recommendations or suggestions are much appreciated!
PS: I am new to building a PC so, apologies if I mistakenly asked a Stupid Question

Get a 5070. Better than 4070s and cheaper msrp. The dlss is also better and will be able to keep up with demanding titles for a while to come. Don’t need anything better for 1440p.

A 5070 would be like 65% of his budget

Thank you for your recommendations. :)
I wouldn't mind the 5070 but I guess it will be looted by Scalpers as soon as it comes out. :(
I don't mind getting an AM4 as well unless it causes an issue with the GPU's performance. Same for DDR4 vs DDR5 RAM

I don’t think scalpers will be a problem. People aren’t exactly stoked for this year’s lineup (not much reason to upgrade if you have a 40 series) and the medium to low end cards don’t get hit as hard anyways.

I just built an AM4 system with a 5800x and 6800 gpu. It was cheap as fuck and it is a fantastic piece of kit. I play mainly older games like DayZ, Arma, Eve online and bannerlord and it knocks these out of the park. It will last me years before I need to upgrade.
Only thing I'd say is go for an X3D 5700 or 5800 if you can for more longevity.

thank you for the recommendations. :)
Sounds good, I'll look into this

Ddr4 will work fine i think you can get 5700x3ds for cheap now. I was just thinking of am5 for an upgrade route in the future.

AM5 build + RX 9070 or RTX 5070

1300$ budget?
Danishmeat@reddit
That’s easy to do
PredatorPortugal@reddit
easy? only the gpu will be close to half
Cr0wfAthEr_21@reddit (OP)
Yes, sadly that is the most I can go. :(

You'll get more bang for your buck out of an AM4 system. There is not that big a jump between ddr4 and ddr5 when you compare it with the performance upgrade you got from ddr3 to 4. Obviously swerve intels last couple of gens, the 5000 series amd stuff is pretty impressive stuff. And it's ripe for both your usage and budget.

Do you wanna be able to hit that 144 hz with your FPS or do you not mind playing on like 60 fps?
Cr0wfAthEr_21@reddit (OP)
Hello
I'd prefer them between 60Hz to 144Hz, but not lower.
I also don't mind playing at very high over Ultra
I just looking for a good visual experience over smoothness. :)

I'm in Sweden so I have a pretty good idea of Scandinavian prices. I feel like a 7600x b580 build would fit into your budget, you can look at benchmarks to see if that performance would be enough for you.
Danishmeat@reddit
You could get something way better
Leo9991@reddit
Do you have a suggestion within his budget?

Hmm...the upper 40xx and all 50xx are focused on high FPS. Would think a 16GB GPU for turning on all quality settings to the highest possible...the RX 7600 XT 16gb is the first card that comes to mind to start evaluating...starting at $330 USD.
Pebbles015@reddit
6800 is the same price and will stomp all over the 7600xt
OkSystem455@reddit
If prices in Scandinavia are the same, then sure...

Thank you for your recommendations. I'd look into it. :)
