Any ideas why mushy peas, no matter the brand, come in smaller tins than normal?

A 'standard' tin is 400g but mushy peas are always 300g, feel kinda robbed, I'd happily take the other 100g 🤣

Most people aren't emotionally equipped to deal with 400g of pure awesome.

I would sit and demolish a 1kg tin in one sitting with no regrets

I think that's gotta be it. Not everyone has the constitution for such things 🤣🤣

They’re mainly eaten as a side dish rather than a main meal, so smaller tins align with the amount typically needed for a few servings alongside fish and chips or a pie.
In that same vein, they aren’t as versatile as other tinned foods like baked beans / tomatoes. Not everyone wants to eat a lot of them in one go!

I have the whole thing in one go usually. The effects are interesting.

I totally get that, but at least make bigger tins for those of us who would happily scran a big ol' tins of them 🤣

A tin of mushy peas actually has more peas in it.
A 400g tin of peas contains water, so you actually get ~265g of peas (the drained weight), while a 300g tin of mushy peas just contains 300g of peas.
