I presume it's for gaming.

What resolution is your screen? How fast is it?

Do you want "max fps" no matter the graphics or "decent fps" with good graphics?

Both the cpu and gpus have (will have in February for the GPUs) newer and faster models available for similar money.

9800x3d (fastest gaming cpu) and GPU depends on the resolution.

CPU:

budget - 7600/X - fast enough, very few games won't hit 100fps even in the most difficult scenes
mid - 7700/X/9700X - even fewer games will not perform very well
high - 7800X3D/9800X3D (preferably the latter but at a reasonable price) - 2nd best and best possible perf, if they can't do it nothing else can

GPU:

budget - current gen 7800XT/4070S if they become cheaper once the new gen comes out
mid - 5070/9070 - probably will perform as well as 4070TI/7900XT for cheaper
high - 5070ti/9070XT

Pair a "high" GPU with any CPU for budget reasons, you'll get better fps when playing with high graphics than by pairing a "high" CPU with a "mid" or "budget" GPU.
