Kenworth ?

I like Volvos , however it’s the truk I have the most miles in so am biased. I was issued a 2025 yesterday and this other driver that hitched a ride with me got a Kenworth also 2025.
I got to drive it around the lot as I wanted to see what the fuss was about. It seemed more torque’y than the Volvo , however it was louder and more vibration. The sleeper wasn’t spectacular, just different.
Maybe I need to get it out on the road to really see , but help me out. What am I missing here ?

Once the KW gets rolling on the highway, it’s a super quiet ride, it actually blew me away coming from a cascadia. The kw does rattle a lot with the body panels at slow speeds tho lol

Ya I figured as much. Crawling around a terminal isn’t a fair test. I was just expecting the kw to be the second coming lol

It also eats bumps like a champ, cascadia damn near gave me a hernia

Been in a t680 for over 2 years and I don’t like it. I don’t like laying in bed all the time. Wish they got the option for the pass seat to spin. Sitting at a desk would help. We also don’t have fridges in ours which sucks.

For me, a lot of it has to do with design. I think Volvos are ugly, and their interiors are boring and poorly built. Meanwhile a T680 is a good looking truck with a dash that, to me, makes sense. They also feel more solid going down the road, Volvos have always felt buzzy to me, and they seem to wander a bit more. I’m guessing that’s due to the softer front ends.
As far as sleepers go, the KW is better built, though their use of space isn’t the best. The refrigerator is also a joke.

Ya, out of the trucks I’ve had on the road. A freightliner and international, the Volvo has been the smoothest and less noisy. I shoulda checked out the sleeper better. I just didn’t wanna look like I was looking through his stuff.

Compared to those two, Volvos are definitely the smoothest, especially with the bigger bumps. I prefer a Peterbilt over them all though.

So when I first started , in Oregon at a truck-stop called Kathy’s Truck stop , am not sure if that’s the name but I was struggling with backing into the slot.
This guy in a white peterbilt moved out of his slot as to give me more room. So I parked and bought him dinner, I got a glance at his sleeper while we were bsing , it looked like a lounge bar. It was pretty cool plus a cool dude.

I'll forever be a Volvo person. I like how they handle love the mirror placement and they feel very well put together as in they don't rattle

Man the mirrors in the international were terrible, I couldn’t see nearly as much.

Volvos are weird.
I've driven a couple 579's and the make sense. You can even lock the truck from the sleeper. But all trucks are missing something that the other one has.
Like volvos having that visor for the door windows.
americandoom@reddit
Do Volvos still have the dick shift on the seat?
xxenoscionxx@reddit (OP)
Ya there are 2 now. One is a dick and up on the seat head rest is a fist that punches you in the back of the head.

Drive it 500k, and you don’t have to worry about the doors falling off the KW…

I have had two Internationals. Their Sleepers were awesome and well laid out. They drove “okay”. I am now in a 2025 KW 680. It drives awesome. Night and day better than the Internationals. The sleeper is poorly laid out compared to the International. I had to bring half of my crap home. The refrigerator is horrible!!! But it drives so I good that I am getting over the shitty layout of the sleeper and the refrigerator. The bed sleeps okay.

My first and current truck is a kenworth t680 and I love this thing. Comfy ride decent use of space. I do agree the refrigerator is a joke. I've been in it for 5 months and haven't had a problem yet. I don't think it's very loud personally, plus I like American cars and trucks so I'd prefer to stay in a kenworth but would also like to get into a peterbilt one day. Always wanted to drive a classic long nose style truck though.
