Europe must combat antisemitism as thousands of Jews abandon the continent, top Jewish leader says

LMFAO
Jews are abandoning Israel for Europe.
Europe has bent over backwards to please its Jewish minority to such an extend that other people are starting to turn against the Jewish loving parties.
How is a Jewish exodus a problem for Europe?
5wmotor@reddit
You can't be openly jewish in certain parts of Berlin.
This is unacceptable.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
This reminds me of those saying parts of London are “no go zones.” It’s all xenophobic BS.
5wmotor@reddit
Because it „reminds you“ of a situation in another town you may wipe away this allegations and call „it’s all bullshit“.
Sounds absolutely random and unfounded.
SpontaneousFlame@reddit
Yes, it reminds me of that situation. Did the Berlin Police Chief say where Jews and LGBTQI people can’t go? Or is it a mysterious place whose location may not be uttered by any official’s lips?
5wmotor@reddit
No. Mostly because she didn’t say „Jews and LGBTQ+ can’t go there“.
Common sense would tell you e.g. avoiding to be jewish in the part of Berlin/Neukölln where children were given treads on the streets to celebrate the attack on Israel on Oct 7th.
Hazeium@reddit
There was a day when Palestine was mostly Arabs, Jews and atheists living together in peace.
Then some Zionists flew over with a piece of paper from a UK chancellor and they created a "Zionist-dominated zone".
Now there are no Arab zones in Palestine and those that existed were bombed - including humanitarian zones.
Get over your victim hood, read what I wrote and digest what you're defending. Zionists are flocking away because people see them for what they are - modern day Nazis.
5wmotor@reddit
This is related to Gays and Jews have to fear for their health in parts of Berlin in which way exactly?
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
Source: trust me bro.
5wmotor@reddit
„„However, there are areas – and we have to be honest at this point – where I would advise people who wear kippas or are openly gay or lesbian to be more careful,” said Slowik.
„At the same time, she specified that there are „certain neighborhoods in which the majority of people of Arab origin live who also have sympathies for terrorist groups.“ There is “open hostility to Jews” there.
Source: Berlin‘s police chief
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
Literally someone saying Arabs are terrorists but because she's a cop we're supposed to pretend she isn't inciting racial hatred.
5wmotor@reddit
You obviously can’t read properly, nor do you know the meaning of the word „literally“.
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
God please stop talking shit. We got it, you're a lying Zionist. Give us a break now.
5wmotor@reddit
The Samidoun network celebrated the attack on Israel with a candy campaign.
This should even be comprehensible for you, there’s a picture in the article.
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
1 - I find it incredible how many Zionists happen to live in this one German neighborhood. Incredible coincidence!
2-The Samidoun network represents "the Arabs" now? Then again, who even says "the Arabs" in Germany. You're just a Zionist liar and doing a very bad job at disguising yourself
5wmotor@reddit
So you agree there are certain neighborhoods where you have to fear for your health as a jewish or gay person and that a certain ethnicity celebrated Oct 7th by giving treads to children?
BTW I hope the people responsible for destroying Gaza are being trialed and jailed.
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
No ethnicity did any such thing. Try to be a little less racist if you can.
5wmotor@reddit
Blatant Antisemitism and homophobia in arabic dominated hoods. You: „Meh, racism.“
Discussion over.
SillyWoodpecker6508@reddit
Why not? You can't be openly Muslim in most of France
5wmotor@reddit
Sorry, that's one of the most ignorant views I ever heard regarding discrimination.
jackdeadcrow@reddit
Where is that quote from? That’s not in the linked article
5wmotor@reddit
"However, there are areas – and we have to be honest at this point – where I would advise people who wear kippas or are openly gay or lesbian to be more careful,” said Slowik.
Here you go.
jackdeadcrow@reddit
So only a quarter of the cases are violence, and most of them are violent during demonstrations, against police?
5wmotor@reddit
No. Against gays and queers. For a decade at least, now.
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
So... not Jews?
5wmotor@reddit
Also Jews.
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
Ah, yes, the police Jews!
Zipz@reddit
Seems like a huge rise
https://www.hatecrime.osce.org/reporting/germany/2022
And antisemitism is clearly a huge problem compared to other religions.
Just for reference Germany has 125k Jews and 5.5 million Muslims. At the same time Jews had 4 times more hate crimes commited against them in Germany.
jackdeadcrow@reddit
No… because the data was not accurate, is it? It broke down into “xenophobic hate crime” and specifically “anti Muslims” hate crime, even though a lot of these are directed toward immigrant from Muslims majority nations
Zipz@reddit
Even if you add anti Muslim crimes with all the xenophobic ones on a per capita basis it’s still not even close
jackdeadcrow@reddit
And if see the breakdown in the hate crimes, you actually quite a stark difference. The majority of hate crimes against Muslims and xenophobic attacks are against individuals, while most antisemitic attacks are properties vandalism. Even antisemitic threats are tiny against threats against muslims and immigrants
Zipz@reddit
Jesus it’s wild how hard you are working to down play hate crimes against Jews.
Again when compared to the population the numbers are astronomical against Jews. It’s shocking to me how hard you are trying to argue against this.
jackdeadcrow@reddit
If the afd is sucking up to israel, do you think it might be a cause for concern?
5wmotor@reddit
No. This hate on random Jews in Berlin from the muslim/arab community is older than AfD.
Zipz@reddit
Now with the conspiracy theories got it.
I’m glad you couldn’t disprove my point
5wmotor@reddit
That still doesn’t change the fact that you can’t wear a Kippa in certain parts of Berlin, 80 years after the Shoa.
SillyWoodpecker6508@reddit
Yes it is
Europe has never been a safe space for people.
Jews thinking they can leave peacefully in Europe is just silly.
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
The biggest attack against Jews since the end of WWII happened on October 7th, 2023 in Israel. Jews in Europe and North America are doing just fine.
5wmotor@reddit
Thats absolut nonsens.

Specifically in 2024 more Israeli residents left Israel. Compare this to 2023, 2022 when Israel gained citizens, and compare it to other years. jews are immigrating to Israel, they only didn't in 2024 people almost like Israel was in a war in multiple fronts. maybe when more people leave Israel then entering specifically when there is a war because of the war and not because conditions in Europe are better than they are normally in Israel for jews?

DeaglanOMulrooney@reddit
Because many (but importantly not all) Jewish people in Europe are Israel-loving Zionists, they are unable to disconnect criticism of Israel from antisemitism. If we include that, it's no surprise to me that there's been an 'increase.'
loggy_sci@reddit
No, it’s people like you who are unable to separate those two concepts. Any time antisemitism is brought up people immediately accuse Jewish people of faking it.
Actual antisemitism exists and it isn’t fake. People who are angry about Israel/Gaza who then go on to attack European Jews are, in fact, antisemitic. Jews in Europe (or anywhere) don’t deserve to be discriminated against or targeted because of the actions of Israel, full stop.
mycargo160@reddit
You're literally proving his point, kiddo.
loggy_sci@reddit
No I’m not. Criticisms of Israeli is fine. Defacing holocaust memorials in Europe because you hate Netanyahu is not. Spray painting Jewish businesses is not. Harassing Jewish people in the street is not.
Antisemitism isnt a plot by Jews all over the world to silence criticism of Israel. Sorry to break it to you.
TraditionalGap1@reddit
According to the IHRA definition of antisemitism, it is not
loggy_sci@reddit
“I think Israel should end their brutal campaign in Gaza, and that not ending it is morally wrong.”
^ that is not antisemitic and no reasonable person would say it is. If someone in the Israeli government says it is, fine. It doesn’t mean we shouldn’t care about antisemitism, and it doesn’t mean Jews being targeted in Europe should be ignored.
mycargo160@reddit
The sentence you put in quotes is literally an example of the "antisemitism" that is "on the rise." This is why I keep saying that you're proving his point.
loggy_sci@reddit
No it isn’t. Criticizing Israel’s campaign in Gaza isn’t antisemitic. Saying “Netanyahu is a monster and Israel’s campaign in Gaza is brutal and must stop.” Isn’t antisemtic.
Saying that Israelis don’t deserve a right to self determination, applying standards to Israel that other countries don’t have to meet, and chanting things like “from the river to the sea” would be considered antisemitic. Attacking Jews in Europe for the actions of Israel is antisemitic.
Hope that helps.
mycargo160@reddit
Yes. It is. You can say it's not, but Israel and its operatives, the media, etc all say it is. When they say there's a rise in antisemitism, a lot of that "rise" is that - people expressing their opinion that genocide is bad and that the Palestinian people deserve their own state. That such things are now considered "antisemitism" is the vast majority of that rise.
loggy_sci@reddit
You are incorrect. Joe Biden called for a two-state solution. A 2SS is not considered antisemitic. Saying genocide is bad isn’t antisemitism. You need to get down off your cross because nothing that you mentioned is antisemitic and not even the IHRA says so.
What you’re doing is denying that antisemitism is on the rise, or dismissing it because you think it’s just European Jews being overly sensitive or weaponizing the term. Does that happen? Sure. Is that what is causing the rise in antisemitism across the globe? No, it isn’t.
You know what is antisemitic? Repeating the trope that Jews somehow control the media, which is pretty close to what you’re implying by saying that this is being fueled by Jewish operatives in the media.
mycargo160@reddit
Joe Biden sent Israel the money and weapons to conduct their genocide, had the US veto UN resolutions condemning the genocide, passed a bill that made criticizing Israel on college campuses illegal, and spread IDF lies to our media about beheaded babies. Fuck all the way off with your bullshit.
No. You're doing that, you lying sack of shit. I said Israel and Israel's operatives. Israel is a diverse country made up of all sorts of people from all different religious backgrounds. The only democracy in the Middle East.
Israel is not Judaism. Criticism of Israel and its genocide is not antisemitic. Israel is not Judaism, no matter how hard you try to pretend that it is.
You have proven incapable of authoring a post with any sort of intellectual honesty, so you don't deserve another moment of my time. Fuck off.
TraditionalGap1@reddit
I disagree with none of that.
Unfortunately, we're discussing a an entity and a report that DOES make that particular conflation, which is why I and numerous others have brought that up. It's a particularly pointed... point here, given how often we see that kind of rhetoric here
Zipz@reddit
I think you should read it again. You’re making stuff up.You can criticize Israel.
TraditionalGap1@reddit
See, when various legal jurisdictions and scholars raise the alarm over specifically the IHRA definition my concerns aren't allayed by pithy one liners from random redditors who emphatically aren't legal scholars.
Zipz@reddit
You were saying ?
“Manifestations might include the targeting of the state of Israel, conceived as a Jewish collectivity. However, criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as antisemitic. Antisemitism frequently charges Jews with conspiring to harm humanity, and it is often used to blame Jews for “why things go wrong.” It is expressed in speech, writing, visual forms and action, and employs sinister stereotypes and negative character traits.”
https://holocaustremembrance.com/resources/working-definition-antisemitism
This is extremely reasonable as much as you want to pretend it says any criticism of Israel is antisemitism it doesn’t.
TraditionalGap1@reddit
I notice that isn't the opinion of a legal scholar but of the very organization trying to push the problematic definition.
Don't they teach folks even basic logic or elementary debate prep or evaluating sources?
Zipz@reddit
It’s interesting you’ve never looked at the source of the thing you are comparing about and yet you pretend to be educated on the subject.
It’s absolutely amazing
TraditionalGap1@reddit
Gee, resorting to baseless ad hominem?
mycargo160@reddit
It's all they ever do.
Zipz@reddit
I mean you clearly haven’t looked at it before today. It’s interesting unnoticed you were clearly wrong yet you are still ignoring the fact
TraditionalGap1@reddit
You assume I 'clearly haven't looked at it before today' based on what, my having trouble with the implications of its loose definition?
Are you going to accuse Antony Lerman of having not looked at it either? Don't be ridiculous. You can disagree with other peoples criticisms of the working definition but pretending that the only reason anyone could come to a conclusion different from yours is ignorance just shows how close minded an intellectually vacuous so much commentary here is
mycargo160@reddit
You're proving his point again, kiddo.
Thormeaxozarliplon@reddit
Almost 100% of the criticism I've seen of Israel is just antisemitic tropes in these main categories:
Claiming all news or information that comes out of Israel whether its the IDF, Israeli government, or Israeli private media, is all lies and is not trustworthy. I've often seen this combined as if all media or information coming out of Israel comes from the same hive mind or cabal as if the government, military, and private media are all the same. This is just an obvious trope about Jews not being trustworthy.
The next is that somehow "israel" is controlling the UN or US or various governments of different countries. I've never seen neonazi ZOG theory so openly embraced, especially when mentioning things like AIPAC. Obvious trope of Jews running the world.
The last big one is the blood libel one. Whatever is happening in the war, the Iranian propaganda shifts the focus. If over half of bombing victims are hamas, the propaganda will say its mostly children dying and only focus on children. There are tons of elaborate fake stories about technology that doesn't exist or "snipers" 100% of the time with magic head-seeking bullets. The internet could make up any story about Israel killing children with something that doesn't exist like a space laser, and most pro-palis would believe it on sheer emotion.
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
Claiming that information coming out of Israeli sources can't be trusted is antisemitic now? Lol truly clown shit!
L_o_n_g_b_o_i@reddit
I find Haaretz pretty trustworthy.
Insinuating the Lavender AI story is 'blood libel', surely makes a mockery of what Jews have suffered through in the past.
Thormeaxozarliplon@reddit
Correction: You like Haaretz if they publish something critical of the government or war, but if they print something about Hamas's rapes on Oct 7 you will call them fake news
markbadly@reddit
Antisemitic attacks were on the rise well before October 7: https://fra.europa.eu/en/news/2024/jews-europe-still-face-high-levels-antisemitism I’m sure the people trying to firebomb synagogues and kill Jews were doing it as part of criticism of Zionism of course

You’re saying that actual antisemitism doesn’t matter because Israel uses the term in a way you disagree with? That’s fucked up. Jews being targeted in Europe and elsewhere is not okay.
People should care about religious antisemitism, even if they believe a foreign government uses the term as a way to silence critics.
Type_02@reddit
What a way to put words into my mouth, i dont even know which one is fucked up between your reading comprehension or your way of thinking.
I literally said nobody put any attention to the word Antisemitism because how Israel use it to silence critics, it make a way for the real Antisemitism and Dangering the jews that have 0 connection with Israel.
You know you kinda funny.. to think that im picking any side.
loggy_sci@reddit
People do actually pay attention to antisemitism and the word antisemitism, so I don’t know wtf you’re talking about.

Type_02@reddit

loggy_sci@reddit
No, it means we should take claims of bigotry seriously and have honest dialogue about it vs. dismissing it outright, which is what people are doing.
tihs_si_learsi@reddit
Hey look, I was right.
mycargo160@reddit
Antisemitism is wrong and should be combatted.
Unfortunately, the word has lost all meaning because of people like Bibi, the Israeli government, AIPAC, etc. throwing the word around where it doesn't apply. If people like you took the time to fight back against these entities bastardizing the word, that would help a lot.
You got so mad at the person you were responding to had the nerve to say that claims of antisemitism should be met with skepticism that you didn't even address the fact that the example he gave was not antisemitic in the slightest. The Palestinian flag is not antisemitic. The Palestinian people are semitic. The genocide of the Palestinian people is by definition antisemitic.
TraditionalGap1@reddit
Why would we show solidarity with a nation reaping the fruits of its own policies? Violently subjugate a population larger than your own and cry for sympathy when it blows up in your face?
I have sympathy for the individual victims and those directly effected but for Israel or Judaism as a whole? Perhaps if they hadn't spent the couple of decades murdering Palestinians or stealing their homes and land or electing literal terrorists to high office or undermining any solution to the conflict.
This sort of willful blindness is why nobody takes these antisemitism accusations seriously. And that's a shame, because antisemitism is a problem.
Thormeaxozarliplon@reddit
You've been lied to about the situation. The Palestinian militant groups are just terrorists that want to kill Jews worldwide. For example 2022 and 2023 saw over 300 terror attacks from Palestinians.

TraditionalGap1@reddit
No, the subjugation that took place via force of arms back in 48 was violent subjugation.
Subjugate: to defeat people or a country and rule them in a way that allows them no freedom
Thormeaxozarliplon@reddit
Wrong again. 48 only happened after 30 years of Arabs killing Jews. It started right away in 1920 when the mandate was formed, and Amin Al Husseini started spreading fears of replacement and Al aqsa being in danger.
This entire conflict has been over 100 years of simple hatred of Jews.

It is only in "danger" during high tension times when the tensions are high and the compound is used as a two way bashing system, both by Israel and by Palestinian groups. So restrictions are added and more security is deployed to make sure those who come there are coming to pray, not to incite more violence.
Jews aren't allowed to pray there either. At least not in mass.
