My 141 flight school charges $460 an hour for a piper Seminole, this dose not include cfi fee,
Is it a rip off ?
Turbulent_Patient_50@reddit
I paid 270 $ for an Apache in Oklahoma
velocityflier16@reddit
GOK?
Turbulent_Patient_50@reddit
Chickasha wings, Guthries a cool airport too though
velocityflier16@reddit
Gotcha! I used to fly 3280P quite a bit. I remember how much of a dog it was in the summer time on one engine. Best I ever saw was 150fpm climb.

$455/hr wet with instructor for a Seminole up here in WI.
Erik5943@reddit
Out of curiosity, where in WI?
ltcterry@reddit
The Seminole I instruct in is about $450/hour dual.
Flygailnow@reddit
Try Traverse air in Michigan. It is $5200 in an Apache in 3-4 days. I’ve sent many people there and they all had a great experience
SnooDoubts9193@reddit
Not sure where you're based but Summit Flight Training does the entire Commercial Multi Engine with instruction and plane included for $6,500. If you have some time to spend in Greeley, they're a great school. I would call them and see how long they can turn you around for. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_1Ro4JvMbC/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

$420 wet instructor in a da42 here
PutOptions@reddit
Where? That's damn good.
velocityflier16@reddit
Nice
throwaway5757_@reddit
Mine is more expensive
153MHawk@reddit
I paid $455 an hour @KJST for a DA-42 and that included everything.
YoItsNickyMo@reddit
Mine is mid $500's wet
hoffmm@reddit
You can rent a da-42 out of pdx for that much. Def a ripoff.
SeriousEgg2684@reddit
499 w/o instructor for a G1000 Seminole at my 141 school. East PA. I'm thinking of going to Action Multi in Groton, CT. 3k for course (7 hours in a Seneca I) + 600 for DPE.

Ever heard of RMFS, you could fly to Denver, rent a car, get a cheap hotel, feed yourself, and still save thousands of dollars.

$199 wet for a Seminole. I strongly considered however the price delta of my local school is nothing compared to your $460.
mhammaker@reddit
Damn, how do they rent a 70's Cherokee 180 for $120/hr?
IllustriousAd1591@reddit
The owner isn’t in it to make money
akav8r@reddit
No frills and do their own maintenance. You're not getting a plane with a G1000.
mhammaker@reddit
I guess the schools around me are way overpriced then, they're the same story but they rent for $175 or so
acegard@reddit
Better call RMFS first before banking on that. I think that Seminole got severely damaged when someone drove through a gate and hit it on the ramp.
IllustriousAd1591@reddit
That was a different school
Rexrollo150@reddit
They have a few Seminoles
acegard@reddit
Ah, my mistake, I thought they only had one and then their 310.
Forsaken-Flow-8272@reddit
This link made me think about getting active again.
dopexile@reddit
That's a pretty good deal. Another benefit for flat earthers would be to get some experience with an instructor regarding flying with serious terrain.
BandagedGoose@reddit
Did my PPL at RMFS a very long time ago. No idea if it's even run by the same people anymore, but I was pretty happy with it at the time.
redditor0927@reddit
That’s about the going rate for 141’s. My 61 school charged $550 wet including CFI for a 2020 Seminole with G1000, autopilot and air conditioning in AZ. It was fantastic as an MEI. I only saw $25/hr of the $100 they charged for my labor.
thatben@reddit
SoCal?
drock8eight@reddit (OP)
Oregon
MidwestFlyerST75@reddit
Hey, if you’re in OR, try giving Twin Oaks a call. Their multi rate was way less than this. $450 is a going rate for a Baron in the Midwest. Plus $75 for instructor and $1k for DPE. Have heard of Apache, Seminole rates down in the 300’s but schools have been booked out.
hr2pilot@reddit
wow…that’s certainly gone up from the 32 bucks an hour wet I paid for my Aztec back in 1974.
OneSea3243@reddit
$575/hr total part 141. It was the most expensive. Not a rip off
WhiteoutDota@reddit
ATP charges $600/hr for their seminoles w/ fuel and instructor.
ReadyplayerParzival1@reddit
Riddle charges roughly 600 for da42’s plus instructor 😓
SMELLYJELLY72@reddit
where is your school?
LittleWhale69@reddit
On the high side, but not really a rip off. Multi prices have gone up lately too. I paid $385 ish total per hour
Worried-Ebb-1699@reddit
Wow…. That’s insane. A Seminole is not worth that.
Definitely shop around.
FlyJunior172@reddit
Too much. I paid $100/h less than that dual in an Aztec.
flyingforfun3@reddit
Shop around. You may find a cheaper school.
I was instructing as a CFI at one school. They didn’t have time to do my CFII, so I went elsewhere. They were pissed. I told them that no only were they more expensive but they told me they couldn’t do it. They instantly cut my hours. Funny part is they were way across the metroplex from each other. Fuck that place. I got by CFII and got a new job. Point of the story is, save money. Shop around. They aren’t loyal to you, don’t be loyal to them.

Average
150kingpin@reddit
I did multi for $385 an hour in an Apache with instructor
swakid8@reddit
Depends on your local market…
What are other schools charging in the local area…Sounds about right with inflation….
Drew-Blankenship@reddit
I’d say $400 is probably about the average for a seminole, atleast in ohio it seems to be pretty consistent at that rate.
redditburner_5000@reddit
It's a rip off.
Fresh-Side9587@reddit
It also includes a firm handshake
FyrPilot86@reddit
yes, the price is often much lower for part 61
