We are the desperate born in the decline, raised by the bastards of 1969.

I swear this is as much an anthem in 2025 as it was in 2005.

Holiday over Basketcase?

We all have different life experiences, but Dookie was my peak Green Day too.

I got a job working in a military hospital. You see shit, you know? I...there are a lot of unpleasant memories. One particularly rough day on the drive home, I was blasting the local rock station, and this song came on. It was a couple of years old by then, but it hit very close to home. I say it's the one that "woke me up" regarding Bush's war.

Same as it ever was. 😕

Jesus of Suburbia hit me so hard as a young man.

Pour one out for St. Jimmy

I’ve been listening to it all morning!

I cannot overstate how much I hate this album.
Not because it's bad.
But because the kind of people I didn't like - and still don't - really love this albums singles. I'll never be able to judge it fairly.
RaspberryVespa@reddit (OP)
Well, that certainly sounds like a YOU problem now, doesn't it! HAHA! j/k don't take offense.
Seriously, though, it's the MESSAGE that's important this week. Maybe give the lyrics of all the songs a re-read.
ericwbolin@reddit
Haha. It definitely is. One-hundred percent.
I'm aware of how good (most of) it is. I won't change Jesus of Suburbia if it comes on.
But, as a whole album, it's like Star Wars or Breaking Bad to me: I refuse out of personal principle.
Dumb hill to die on, of course. I'm OK with that.

I had that album downloaded to my XBox and had it as the background music to Outlaw Golf 2. I played that game into submission and it’s one of my favorite games ever, probably due to that album.
Seeing Green Day play Dookie and American Idiot in full this past summer was amazing

I don't think that CD left my player for my entire final year of college.
Favorite track from the album: Letterbomb
