Treats/snacks from up north you can’t get down south?
Posted by Babadoh@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 20 comments
I’m finishing up a 12 month contract for a client in London and I’m based in Manchester. I wanted to take some treats for people as a thank you and thought it would be nice to take something local that isn’t available/common in London - Eccles cakes was an idea but grateful any other suggestions. Thank you!

Peach/pineapple melbas from Gregg's and corned beef/cheese patty from the chippy, I miss those! And like another comment said Pease Pudding from the butcher.

Freshly made pease pudding.
I have seen it in cans in supermarkets, but it’s not the same as getting it from your local butcher who has made it using stock they have made with their own ham bones.

Anything from Cooplands and Booths own brand stuff (the crisps in particular are very good).

Booths isn't just northern it's north west. There are no Booths in the north east at all.

Closest one to the north east is Ripon. I go there every December just for Xmas food shopping.

What about the Ilkley branch? https://www.booths.co.uk/store/ilkley/

I wouldn't call that North East.
If you zoom out on the map on the page you've linked it's slightly West of centre.

You can get dandelion and burdock in my local supermarkets (Sussex). Kendal mint cake you can find in camping shops.
