When the MTV Breakthrough Video intro came on the screen, you knew some dope-ass shit was bout to come down the pipe.
Remember how they were originally named Green Jello but had to change it after Big Jello hit em wit that Cease & Desist? 😂
Sound & visuals were both very reminiscent of Primus...just blatantly biting Claypool's style really. Ended up being a flash in the pan and the epitome of a One-Hit-Wonder as far as I can remember. Apologies in advance if I offended any of you Green Jelly stans out there by being so dismissive of their Legacy. I know that there's dozens of you out there...DOZENS! 😬
Tool had some sweet claymation vids as well 🤘

What a huge coincidence that this music video resurfaced from the depths of my mind just a few days ago.

Huffin' and a puffin' and I blow your house in!
I think they were Green Jello when they first came out, but had to change their name for copyright or whatever.
BulimicMosquitos@reddit
And if I recall correctly, it’s still supposed to be pronounced as Green Jello, lol.
JonasSharra@reddit
I still have the Green Jello CD
sofakingWTD@reddit
The VHS, with "Shitman"

I have the Green Jello cassette. The album was Cereal Killer I believe. The whole album was solid but in my opinion. I nearly wore out that tape on my walkman.
GuidonianHand2@reddit
Same. One of the first tapes I ever bought at 12yo
Morriganx3@reddit
I had the original CD with Green Jello, but I’m pretty sure my ex husband took it when we divorced :/

I believe they had to change their name from "Jello" to "Jelly" because of trademark issues with Kraft foods (of whoever owned Jello). It was Green Jelly when I discovered this song.
TransportationOk657@reddit
It was a trademark issue with Kraft Foods that owned Jello
MlsterFlster@reddit
That makes perfect sense.
SlavaSobov@reddit
I played the video for my son when he was like 4 to make sure he came out ok. 😂

These guys are still active in LA, I think you can catch them a few times a month. Fun fact: Maynard from Tool was in this band
And they sounded nothing like Primus in my opinion
septag0n@reddit
They were also featured on the Spider-Man game Maximum Carnage for SNES/Sega Genesis/Magadrive
IronSloth@reddit
That’s right! Sleazy P Martini! My introduction to him was GWAR’s Skullheadface, insanely twisted piece of cinema
some_body_else@reddit
Maynard was the voice of the pigs. "Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin"
IronSloth@reddit
They re-recorded this song recently and that part is just not the same
EtTuBrutAftershave@reddit
I came to make sure the Maynard connection was mentioned.
Appropriate-Click215@reddit
2 members of Tool were in Green Jelly at the time my dude.
GuidonianHand2@reddit
TIL! Awesome

Contemplating this for karaoke

They are still active, touring, and occasionally releasing songs. I follow them on FB. Their popularity is low and they are still trying to hold on to their 15 minutes of fame. I bought an autographed green jelly Christmas cd directly from their Facebook post for $10 a couple weeks ago. They must be hurting for money because they've also auctioned off ad space on their tour bus and they advertise their availability for live shows. It's gotta sting a bit to be in their shoes. Going from selling out arenas in the 90s to taking up birthday party gigs and hocking their stuff on facebook.

I loved this band as a kid! I owned the original cassette before the name change. And they were one of the first bands I saw in concert, I saw them open for the trash metal band Testament in 1993. Their content is silly and they dress up in costumes...parents were pretty lax about what I listened to because they were for sure not a band for kids haha
Cutthechitchata-hole@reddit
Ahem! Green Jello will always be their name to me.
Sapiophile23@reddit
Wow, memory unlocked. Good times

I got to open for these guys at a gig in Erie.. or Buffalo.. one of the two.. was a fun show and a great time.
ThunderSpud@reddit
They really loved that style of animation. I recall happening across another of their songs on the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack.

I was going to say that this looks like everything from Pork Soda, which is in my top ten favorite albums.
BulimicMosquitos@reddit
Grab yourself a can of pork soda, and you’ll be feelin’ just fine.

When I heard they were forced to change their name to Green Jelly I ran out to buy a copy of their cd that was still labeled green jello thinking it would be worth money.
Nowadays I’m still not all that good at picking investments.

Little pig, little pig LET ME IN! not by the hair of our chinny chin chin!

My friend and I used to sing this at karaoke. You either loved it or hated it.

Along came the wolf on his big bad Harley

Green Jellÿ released this as part of a video album, available on VHS. I remember this vid and the vid for the title track, Cereal Killer.
taskforceslacker@reddit
I preferred their version of “Chewbacca”.

Caught this on a late night TV program (regular TV since we didn't have cable) that played metal music videos when it came out ('92 or '93). I've been listening to it ever since! First I taped it from the radio. Then downloaded it from Napster and burnt it on a CD. Now I have it on Spotify!
