I7 14700k with 4070 or 5 7600 with 4070 ti super

The difference is €87—does it make sense to pay extra and sacrifice the CPU? In theory, the GPU should last longer because of the 16GB, but how relevant will the CPU be by then? I plan to do 3D work and play games at 1440p. On benchmarks, it seems like the FPS is higher with the i7, but something about it still makes me feel uncertain.

5070?

I would go for 7700 (OEM) 8 cores and better than 7600x in gaming and for future upgrades. In my country it's only 20$ more.
General_High_Ground@reddit
Doesn't matter the CPU, get the super.

I can’t fathom why anybody would support 14th gen intel with all the issues and how Intel handled it. And there’s no upgrade path. Go with the 7600 as AM5 will have more support in the future and there’s already a lot of great upgrade options
Perrodinho@reddit
If your main render engine utilizes the gpu then def go for the Ti Super. I've gone with the Ti Super and the 13700k but I regret the Intel choice because of its limited upgrade path. AM5 will be here for a while. Watch some comparison videos on the games you play and the 3D software you use is my best advice :)

Even a 7500F with a 4070Ti Super will be significantly better.
ultrasimz@reddit
have you considered the 5070ti 👀
Meatslinger@reddit
Definitely the AMD path. If gaming is your objective you’re unlikely to max out the cores on the i7 most of the time, and on top of that the LGA 1700 socket is dead tech and there’s still that little possibility that Intel hasn’t truly patched all the problems out of the 13/14th gen CPUs. Even though they’re offering a five year warranty, you’d have to go without a CPU during any kind of an RMA. Going with the 7600 (I’d recommend 7600X if you can justify a little more expense) sets you up for future upgrades on the AM5 platform as well as some potential power savings. That, and the 4070 Ti Super you plan to pair with it is a substantial leap over the basic 4070.

Is wait for 50 series an option here? It's been announced, and will likely drop the prices on the gpus if nothing else when it releases
dasoxarechamps2005@reddit
Bold assumption the 50 series will drop 40 prices
Bluedot55@reddit
Eh, at the current listed MSRP it should. A 550 5070 is really going to force the 4070/4070ti down if it's actually at that price
anotherwave1@reddit
Prices of existing won't drop. These are not like normal products. They will sell off the old inventory. If the new 50 series cards are better than expected they'll stay above MSRP for longer.
ChrisRoadd@reddit
depending on where you live, used market is literally just msrp
Bigtallanddopey@reddit
That’s MSRP for the the founders edition, which few people will get. I would bet that you can 100 on top for an AiB card and more if they sell out quickly.
dasoxarechamps2005@reddit
Bold assumption majority of people (not scalpers) are gonna be able to buy those cards at MSRP anytime soon
ChrisRoadd@reddit
any am5 chip is really good since you can extremely easily upgrade to a better one up until at least 2027 or beyond.
ZemlyaNovaya@reddit
7600 with 4070TiS for sure, you can always upgrade to something like 9800x3d later on and the gpu is king for 1440p unless you are playing an unoptimized mess like tarkov
whatthetoken@reddit
This. 7600x is plenty fast now. The path to eventual upgrades is very good. The 7600X and the platform is already rich in options if he decides to upgrade. I would just avoid the Intel line for now until they provide similar upgrade ability
phantomtofu@reddit
The 14700k uses so much power - by going with the second option you'll save the €87 on your electric bills in the first year.
Also, the 7600 will work fine with the cooler that comes with it. The 14700k will require a very good CPU cooler to keep it happy.

7600 and 4070 Ti Super
deeeep_fried@reddit
I’m still hesitant with recommending 14th gen intel, so I’d go with the amd option. Plus it gives you an upgrade path down the road
Special-Trouble8658@reddit
Second option
sinreservaciones@reddit
14700k has no upgrade path. 7600 with the 4070TiS is the better combo.
ajrf92@reddit
And it's unreliable.
The_soulprophet@reddit
Is 12900k and 4070ti an option?
Aggressive-Matter-90@reddit (OP)
I checked, and there’s no Ti version available in my city. If I order it from Amazon, it’ll cost about the same as the TS version here.
OwlyEagle-@reddit
Ti super no question.
