Comparison of Lemmy and Reddit, Plus Connecting to Friendica

I joined Friendica in October of 2024, after Facebook shut down their Basic Mobile site (not app). I recently heard of Lemmy and read that it's a Reddit alternative. How does it compare to Reddit for general use? How do I connect it to Friendica? That is, do I need to create a Lemmy account and link the two, or do I just post with a tag or the at sign with my Friendica account, as with groups?

You can post in Lemmy from your Friendica account just fine, but it's probably easier to create a separated Lemmy account, specially if you want to use Lemmy regularly later on.
I've been using Lemmy daily. It works well as a Reddit alternative, specially if you're into tech, science, anime, or politics.
Your instance has some impact on your experience in Lemmy so I recommend sticking to the instances ~~@BlazeAlt\@reddit.com~~ u/BlazeAlt recommended.

I find technology to be quite interesting, and some science stories are as well. I know nothing of anime, and I have little to no interest in politics, so this is good to know.

Friendica works better with communities than something like Mastodon. You can start threads or reply to posts on Lemmy directly from Friendica:

You don't typically link the accounts.
It seems to be possible to browse Lemmy from Friendica, at least I was able to find a friendica.world user who commented on a Lemmy post
