I've seen that particular one IRL a few times. Pretty fun. Note that the duct directs the jet exhaust such that its thrust vector goes through the plane's CG; that means that throttling the jet doesn't induce pitching, but it gives it a boost in lift.
A lot of times people will be all "just google it" but nothing beats some dude who actually works with xyz daily, or at least has first hand experience with something like this guy. I'll be learning about the Chicago L in the CTA sub and a literal operator is in the thread dropping insights.

its a Helicopter engine. its a jet engine made for power output trough a shaft which propels the rotor/propeller. the pipe is just the exhaust. yes, it gives a bit thrust, but not that much compared to the propeller.
which is exactly what i believed from the picture at first glance, then i looked closer, then io looked it up, it's the Screaming Sasquatch - check it out ;)
This plane will have me at airventure pushing through the crowd like an unhinged Micheal Jackson fan girl in his prime, just to get my yearly fix of its beautiful song and dance.
I had the pleasure of meeting Rich after a performance and honestly they are so wonderful- unhinged a little but you've got to be when pulling off stunts like that. Genuinely one of the nicest people I've met.
That was an amazing part of the show. So many people jaw dropping stunned watching the Frankenstein biplane with outrageous power. I have never forgotten this event.

This is a Waco biplane. I have old school video of a jet Waco at Lunken airport.
ArtemisOSX@reddit
Might be the same one; it only got branded as the Jack Links Screamin Sasquatch a decade or so ago. It has been on the circuit a while.
Boforizzle@reddit
Dude, people like you that just Inform me of things, this is why I love reddit. And the memes of course.

No, this plane has a radial piston engine in the usual place, and a turbojet engine underneath.

Does the fans suction affect anything? Is that not producing a tiny bit of asymmetrical pulling thrust?

bet he's like palpatine in the cockpit sliding the jet engine full throttle "unlimited vertical!"
t0ny7@reddit
They did some work on it at KEUL and did some test flights. It was the only plane that has ever woken me up from being so loud. lol

I have now! Thank you!

I'm actually compiling a list of biplanes with jets, I think it's up to 6, if you know if any more please tell me
mdang104@reddit
I never thought of they but they are logging twin time flying this
Tojinaru@reddit
Isn't this turboprop?
HalogenFisk@reddit
No, One Pratt & Whitney 985 radial piston engine,
and One General Electric CJ610 (J85) jet engine with 3,000 lbs thrust.
The Gas turbine doesn't turn the propellor.
Tojinaru@reddit
Thanks for explanation
Cake-Over@reddit
Would the prop wash have a ram air or supercharge effect on the jet engine?

Smiggles0618@reddit
Several times. This and the Yak-110 have such a mindf*** sound - you hear the prop coming at you and then as it passes there's the roar of the jet.
Visible_Mountain_188@reddit
Yes, the double yak is awesome to see, saw it at the Pacific airshow on the gold coast.
