Why? Honestly the most useless body style is the converted four door.
asdfoneplusone@reddit
I mean, I agree, but the same could be said for the BMW M2 and M4 etc
RacerKaiser@reddit
would be nice to to see a big coupe from merc again
Smart_History4444@reddit
BIG BODY BENZZZ

Picture me rollin
TestingThrowaway100@reddit
If they put the Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept into production with their EQ drivetrain they'd have a Rolls Royce Spectre competing car easily.
Honest-Piccolo-5499@reddit
Definitely
Optimal_Pressure_280@reddit
It would be great to pick up the coupe legacy where I left off after having owned 2 SECs and a CL600 back in the day.
WeedFiend365@reddit
Mercedes design language lately doesn’t get nearly enough hate. Blobby vents it all looks so cheap. Mercedes design has been slowlyz going downhill. Over 2 decades. The S class doesn’t have the road presence like it used to. It looks generic and boring. Like a luxury Chinese car
ronnysteal@reddit
The only category where Merc knows to make an amazing package, Coupes. IMHO
Exterior and interior always aesthetically perfekt.
NotWhoYouKnw@reddit
Remind me 25 years! Depreciation do your work.
HawtGarbage917@reddit (OP)
Not gonna lie, I hope Benz gets back into the coupe game, but none of these look all that good compared to the last-gen S-Class coupe. (Or the previous CL. Or the first CL...)
DepthHour1669@reddit
They look like the sedan, but someone forgot to add the rear doors.
What’s the point of a 2 door coupe if you don’t have thecoupe sloping roofline?
18voltbattery@reddit
I love the s class coupe but what’s in those pictures is an unsellable abomination
Multifaceted-Simp@reddit
The old s class coupe was impossible to differentiate from the e class coupe, inside and outside
hi_im_bored13@reddit
Completely different center stack, completely different materials.
E class (coupe & sedan) had the same interior & infotainment controller from the c-class & glc
S class coupe/sedan had a completely bespoke infotainment controller, beautiful metal buttons surrounding it, bespoke climate controls, and the "new" steering wheel that was unique to the s-class at the time.
Hoffmeisterfan@reddit
If I had to guess: these are crudely photoshopped image for the trademark filings. Clearly not an actual coupe door or rear roofline shape - if they release a production version I would expect it to look great as you described.
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
There was a camouflaged red mercedes coupe photoshopped months ago and it had a split window in the rear end and was alleged to be an s class coupe successor. Someone also a insider that I’m aqquainted with that a employee from a Mercedes dealership told him an s class coupe successor is in development but someone who reviews a bunch of various cars and often limited edition Mercedes models said there’s no s class coupe in development so we’ll just have to let time tell
cyclops86@reddit
Fellow CL connoisseur I see.
My first Benz, have had her for more than a decade and still my favorite. Buttery smooth ride and power delivery. Still going strong!
bigev007@reddit
This isn't factory. Somebody at C/D was being lazy on the research
Legitimate_Item_9342@reddit
Love my coupe. Has been my dream car since forever, finally made it for a Merc 2014 and I can't be more happy. Next one would be for sure something like this one
badyum@reddit
s class coupes were class. glad to see them working on them again
RoyalISF@reddit
Wasn’t the last S Class Coupe a flop? If anyone can do it it’s them, I just don’t see a huge market for it
strongmanass@reddit
A total and complete sales flop. But it was a genuinely amazing car. Best GT in the class after the update IMO. But they didn't tell anyone just how comprehensive that update was, so it languished for a bit, then Covid happened, and it faded into the grave.
lowstrife@reddit
At least it avoided the SL treatment, where they put the 2.0 4 banger in and kinda ruins the vibe. It's a fine motor, but not for the top of the range luxury yacht.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
or the sl "680" with a v8
niftyjack@reddit
At this end of the market sometimes vibe is more important than sales
RiftHunter4@reddit
About time. It's pretty clear that once you cross the $100k mark, people kinda stop caring about practicality and what makes sense. I'm seeing a lot of passion purchases in that price range.
strongmanass@reddit
These days $100K for a luxury car is a precarious price point. You're still seeing value-oriented buyers until you hit $200K, but to sell an expensive luxury coupé you need high earners who want am emotional purchase. That's partly why the LC500, 8 series, and SL all do poorly.
I think a new S-class coupé would be over $150K.
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
They’d probably sell two trims, one be a S53 and one be a S63, maybe give the 63 a V12 if they really wanted to spice up or just a big liter V8 instead and price the 63 at about 235k and the 53 around 170k. I don’t think they’ll release an s class coupe successor before they unveil the 2026 s class though because it wouldn’t make sense to release an coupe variant based on the currenr s class’s graphics only to update the s class months later. I think the 2026 s class will come first and if the coupe comes out soon after the s class that it’ll come around 9 months before the maybach variant for the s class sedan
hi_im_bored13@reddit
63 has never had the v12 (apart from one year of the g-class), has to be a 65 or 680 by their nomenclature.
Previous gen s-class coupe did have an s65, I don't know how well they sold but I've been looking for one for a while and it's extremely rare.
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
I’m aware the 63 hasn’t a had a V12. I didn’t say I hope they gave it a v12 because I thought 63s came with V12. Just said it as a guess since I don’t think they’ll sell a 65 which would be likely to have a V12 if they did
hi_im_bored13@reddit
I think its far more likely they just do s500/s580/s580e/s63, no V12, just i6/v8/v8-but-hybrid
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
I don’t think they’ll sell almost all of those trims in the S63. I think it’ll just come with a s550, a S680 trim if they don’t decide to sell a maybach variant as a limited edition model, and a S53 and S63 trim for the AMG line. I’m on the fence about whether they’ll release a eperformace trim but I think probably not since the s63 e performace is out so they might not think it’s necessary to release a coupe variant of that
hi_im_bored13@reddit
Why do you say so? They've already done the engineering on the platform. I'd say th eopposite - I don't see how they'll re-do the drivetrain lineup just for the coupe
Quick_Coyote_7649@reddit
I think they’re likely to give the coupe the s63 engine but I don’t think they’ll do an e performace for it. Not give the coupe a different build then the s63 e build, I just don’t think they’ll sell s63 e coupe
strongmanass@reddit
I would 100% think about buying one before I make up some excuse for why I don't want to spend $200K, only to then buy it used years later and immediately spend $20K in repairs.
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Are they serious ? We’re just sadly to hear RC coupe leaving. I really wonder Mercedes would try sedan base coupe.
mrob2@reddit
Just in time for BMW to have given up on the 8 series coupe. Lets see if Mercedes is more successful
Spicywolff@reddit
I love the idea of the S class coupe again. Hope they fix the interior QC issues
