Has the Ryzen 7 5700X3D been discontinued?

I am kicking myself for not picking up a Ryzen 7 5700X3D during the holiday deals but see that there is no or very over priced inventory available in Canada. I know AMD discontinued the Has the Ryzen 7 5800X3D but am not sure about the status of its AM4 sibling. Upgrading to AM5 is obviously a lot more expensive as I am on AM4 platform already and have great components.

Just took my shot with CPU Brothers Store. $177 after tax, then theres a +$20 coupon. Total $155

Same problem here (Canada). Was looking to update from Ryzen 5 3600. Only Ryzen 7 series available here (new) are 5700x ($259 CAD) , or 5800xt ($279 CAD). These are a bit higher in base & boost speeds but don't have the bigger L3 cache that the x3d versions do. Only options for now besides saving up for a AM5 or later build in future.

That is my situation being on AM4 platform. Going AM5 would unfortunately mean the upgrade trinity of motherboard, CPU and RAM. I have an Asus ROG Strix X570-E and 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB which are great and in no need of an upgrade. I am hoping more inventory hits our shelves or AliExpress will be the only option.

5700x3d is a failed 5800x3d so supply is going to be running out
Sadukar09@reddit
Probably not unless they scaled down Epyc AM4 completely.
IIRC all AM4 X3D CPUs are dies that can't make it into the Epyc 7003X for whatever reason.
5800X3D came out a month after than the 7003X series.
AMD probably got tired of trying to bin the rejects so high up to that spec, and created the 5700X3D.
5600X3D was a special created for Microcenter so they don't drive down the average selling price for the 5800X3D.
VoidNinja62@reddit
Nah not at all. Think they gave up on the 5800 X3D altogether.
babis8142@reddit
So there's a chance they'll keep making the 7 then?
Boryk_@reddit
aliexpress is the way to go for 5700X3D

Is Aliexpress reliable for original non-knockoff computer parts? I have never ordered from them and usually get on Amazon for return ease if there is an issue or directly at retailer like Canada Computers.
Analmall_Lover@reddit
I got mine on Aliexpress for $138 in November. Just make sure you buy one from a seller with lots of previous sales. It’ll come in a plastic tray. I think there’s like a week or two return period so install and test it ASAP just in case.
PewterButters@reddit
Lowest I see now is 165 dollars so even on aliexpress the price seems to be rising.
Squirrel_Rage@reddit
It is, also some coupons no longer work with these CPUs so getting these around $130-$140 doesn't seem possible either. Lowest price possible seems to be discount for first item on a new account.

Thanks
IcemanEG@reddit
I got mine from the SZCPU store on Ali with no issues. My first time buying parts like that from that site. Took 2-3 weeks to get to me, tracking typically drops off once it reaches the US.
Comes in tray packaging. I’d do it again for the right CPU at the right price
fakuryu@reddit
Sent you a DM, I've read about people here getting it from a specific seller and seems like they are able to get their orders. Unfortunately that seller can't ship it where I'm from, but AFAIK they ship to Canada.
I was able to source mine locally from our version of Amazon (Lazada, but got shipped from China) for surprisingly the same holiday price.
10YearsANoob@reddit
I'm down for the 5700 link
fakuryu@reddit
I checked the rules and it seems like it's allowed. Just look for the seller SZCPU Store.
squirrel_crosswalk@reddit
AliExpress is not a retailer, it is a shopfront for Chinese sellers very much like eBay storefronts.
Ballsy_McGee@reddit
Honestly idk. I see everyone talking about it successfully and then when I tried to, SZCPU store (a merchant that is supposedly legit according to yall on reddit) gave me the run around when their tracking said it was delivered and nothing ever showed up. Thankfully I made the purchase with a credit card, so I was able to chargeback no questions asked. If you do decide to go thru aliexpress, use a credit card. Hopefully it works out for you.
AFunnyIntrovert@reddit
Their tracking only goes to the courier, same thing happened to me and it was because they had delivered it to USPS for final delivery, so it showed up a delivered on their end and USPS eventually delivered the CPU to me a few days later
Ballsy_McGee@reddit
Awesome, Im glad that happened for you. I waited 2 whole months and nothing.
AFunnyIntrovert@reddit
That's rough, Iv had nothing but successful orders by them
Bl4ckStorm75@reddit
As long as you buy from reputable stores yes, I bought mine from SZCPU Store since it has good reviews with pics and the Store is like 6 year's old. I bought it for $135 on the past november sale
tony475130@reddit
I’ve bought all my ryzen cpu’s from “SZCPU Store” over on aliexpress and have had nothing but great experiences with them. I get my orders shipped fast and get to my house within 2 week of ordering on average.
kmofosho@reddit
It depends on the seller. Make sure you go for one with a lot of sales and reviews. I just got my 5700x3d a week ago, and i was a little suspicious but it showed up in 2 weeks and it runs just fine. Make sure you used a credit card or PayPal or some kind of payment method where you can easily dispute the charge if they try to rip you off. Meaning don’t use a debit card, as they are harder to get charges reversed on. My tracking info didn’t update until the day before it was delivered also.
Knocking@reddit
bought two 5700x3ds from Aliexpress and neither made it to my house 😭
kmofosho@reddit
What happened with them? Did you get your refunds? How long did it take to acknowledge they were lost?
Knocking@reddit
The first one was delivered to the wrong address and they refunded me the next day no questions asked.
The second one is still pending, but it's been on a plane since January 7th and was expected by the 18th. I'll give it til then, and request a refund if it doesn't magically appear
Yiiniks@reddit
Mine was set to be delivered on 31st of dec. It got delivered on 7th of jan. I really wouldnt worry, my tracking was silent for 18 days cuz of plane transit
kmofosho@reddit
Mine was showing as “waiting for flight” for almost 10 days until the tracking updated showing it was out for delivery, so there may be hope. When did you order it? I wouldn’t call it lost until you hit 30 days.
Knocking@reddit
Oh that's really good to know, I placed the order on the 4th. I'll keep holding out for a while longer :D
nlflint@reddit
Yes! Just got mine from AliExpress last week (I ordered it Dec 30th): $150 + Tax + free shipping. Been running great for the last week. Noticeably improved over my 6-core Ryzen 4650g (w/RX6800).
All__fun@reddit
Just bought on Aliexpress for $161 final price.
it's already shipped lets hope it arrives.
If you buy offa ali
make sure to pick a seller who has reviews specifically for the 5700x3d.
Some sellers will have a great price, but no reviews, dont even push your luck.
Pay the extra $10-20 for a seller with good reviews.
ive seen prices on ali from $130-180.
The $130 sellers did not have any reviews though, so i skipped them.
Mine was $153USd before tax
KingChumbo@reddit
Can you link the page you got it from? :)
mmozzano@reddit
I ordered from one SZCPU store on the 9th January, it was delivered yesterday, 16th January. It was £139 delivered which is about $170. This is the 2nd one I've ordered from Aliexpress, both orders were hassle free and both CPUs work great.
L0neW0lf44@reddit
Dang, hopefully mine comes soon. I'm in the US but it hasn't come yet and I ordered it on the 31st of December.
mmozzano@reddit
Yeah I was quite impressed how quickly it arrived, it normally takes a couple of weeks. Hope yours turns up soon.
montrealjoker@reddit (OP)
Thanks for the info. I wonder where the AliExpress sellers are getting genuine AMD parts at such a discount. What kind of deals and shenanigans are happening at the manufacturing sources?
Cautious-Treat-3568@reddit
They're selling tray units which are originally for big pc companies like HP, Dell, Lenovo etc. They are not actually an end user product but it's actually the same thing, just different packaging. Don't have normal end user boxes.
Coffinmagic@reddit
If you are buying thousands of CPUs you get a better deal. international sellers can move a lot of product
bearwoodgoxers@reddit
I bought mine off Alibaba.com for $158. Make sure you buy from a Verified Seller with "Manufacturer" in their profile, these folks are legit and very helpful. I live in Asia and received it in 6 days, shipped with FedEx. Well packed, handled, etc.
The downside is no warranty as it's a tray CPU (made for OEMs) but CPUs are generally safe to buy, if they're bad they're bad from first boot. Alibaba should help you out if you get defective parts.
You can get 5800x3D as well, think it's going for around $290, although it is debatable if that is worth it right now.
montrealjoker@reddit (OP)
Thanks for the info!
pkinetics@reddit
I have no idea where the chips are made and may not be related, but supply might be lower as China manufacturing plants may be slowing down orders in preparation for the New Year. Expect like 2 weeks of down time.
yeahjusso@reddit
Made in tirwan
PannaMillsy@reddit
Still celebrated, Lunar New Year.
yeahjusso@reddit
Yep
montrealjoker@reddit (OP)
Interesting - was not factoring that in
Der_144@reddit
I got one on Boxing Day at Best Buy for $300, Canada computers had some last I checked as well
montrealjoker@reddit (OP)
No inventory at BestBuy or CC
Yommination@reddit
I imagine they might be ramping down production of all AM4 chips soon enough here
Apprehensive-Log-916@reddit
I was hoping to upgrade my 5600g to a 5700x3d but after I seen how much the prices went up in Canada I decided I'm going to go with something a bit cheaper. Just have to figure out what will be worth it.
I know a lot of people have had success from Aliexpress but I don't feel comfortable with it personally and can't afford the loss if something happens.
Top_Jellyfish986@reddit
I managed to grab one recently via Amazon Canada but it was only in stock for like a day, paid $350 CAD
montrealjoker@reddit (OP)
Amazon Canada is at $442 now
montrealjoker@reddit (OP)
Amazon Canada is $442 now 😫
Lizzpathetic@reddit
I'm in the exact same situation. I was thinking about buying it in October when it was at 165€....
TheTahitiTrials@reddit
No, it's not discontinued but the prices are rising drastically it seems. Black Friday weekend it was at $195 on Amazon, and into December as well if I recall.
MicroCenter and AliExpress are probably your best bets rn.
montrealjoker@reddit (OP)
I wish we had MicroCenter. I am in Canada and it hurts to look at products on their website because the prices and availability is so much better.
arcos00@reddit
I've been wondering and worrying about the same thing, as I've seen it rise sharply in price in Amazon and in my local retailers (I'm not in the US).
psimwork@reddit
The price is definitely on the rise, but I'm not aware of it being discontinued. It's always possible, but with the RTX 5000-series and AMD RX 9000-series announcements creating demand for folks upgrading their PC, I think more likely it's just demand from that reducing supply.
But who knows - maybe they did. Time will tell.
