Does it still have the hideous wallpaper from the movie? Could be why it sat on the market so long.

Would be pretty amazing if it turned out Macauley Culkin bought it.

Countdown starts to it getting robbed by the Wet Bandits

I assume they’re going to turn it into an air b and b and then regret it because people will be recreating the movie for content and it’s going to destroy the property and they’ll loose insurance coverage.

Unfortunately the interior is a completely different house. They filmed the interior scenes on a sound stage built specifically for the movie and only used this house for exterior shots, so it’s kinda disappointing, really.

I'm sure the insurance companies had that same thought and are gonna jack up rates on the new owner

The Winnetka, Illinois home was first listed for $5.25 million in May 2024.
Previous owners bought the place for $1.585 million in 2012, and made many updates.
Indubitalist@reddit
Guessing they didn’t make $4 million worth of updates, tho.

The mannequins in the basement are a clue - the Mom was a fashion designer. Dad was an advertising exec or similar.

And like 10 pizzas for dinner every night, insane!

It's a gorgeous house but I couldn't handle people driving by my house, stopping to take pictures on the stoop, etc.

I just hope they expanded the garage. The cars stuffed in there and sticking out was always so odd to me AND the dad claimed he closed the garage right before they realized Kevin wasn’t on the plane. Lies, sir! Lies!
westcor@reddit
There’s a huge basketball court there seriously

Honestly seems pretty cheap with today's house prices.

I wonder if looky loo tourists being outside your place 24/7 has anything to do with that. I think it would be awesome to live in it, but I wouldn't be able to stand that part.
GuiltyPiglet5882@reddit
Yeah, the last thing I would want is a house that is a (small) tourist attraction.
