My grandson had parachute day at daycare today. My mom (Silent Gen) didn't know what it was. I'm just glad the tradition continues!

And the crab walk and those little wheeled platforms that you sat on, designed to crush your fingers

Parachute day was the begining of the end of America, instead of recreating with a traditional dodge ball and punishing those that did not fit in, the parachute arrived for social co-play without competition. It was the first step to participation trophies.

What is this? Born 1970, never heard of this “parachute day” before.

My best parachute experience was on back to school night when I was in 1st grade. They had parents do the parachute stuff and kids could hold on between their parents. When everyone lifted the parachute to go under, the kids (who held on) were lifted a few feet into the air.
I was able to hold on and I think I went up three times total.

I’m GenX and did not hear about parachutes until I had my own kid-was this a thing back in our day?

We did it in school at least once a year, and at day camp at the Y as well.
Wow, I haven’t thought about day camp in years.

As a high schooler, I taught P.E. to elementary kids. I brought out the parachute as often as I could.
