While you may joke about that. I actually encounter some drivers that literally could not speak a word of engish and had to call dispatch to translate them for the shipping clerk.
Oh yeah I know, I encounter them everyday at truck stops, literally had an Indian guy try to cut me off at the stop sign leading out of the truck stop the other day, zoomed up the oncoming lane as a tow truck and two other cars were pulling in and as I pulled up closer to the stop sign I politely gave him the finger and a long toot of my air horn.
Wait till you drive in the snow that's when they really come out. You don't have to worry about a safe speed when the super trucker next to you is doing 65mph in the snow, he is the one you got to worry about.
Just drove through snow earlier. Talking to my wife about all the super truckers flying by. Her response was "at least they aren't endangering you". I told her for at least 1-2 mins they are a danger to me. Once they are past and up the road a ways then my following distance will save me.
Ever seen a 100-200 car pileup? I have. It was because of a semi truck hitting a stalled car in the fog, and 99 other people driving too fast and having no where to go. Doesn't matter if you are driving safe if there is one truck going way to fast for conditions, you are in danger
I can do 65 in the snow.... in a car. In a truck, hell no! I can do 55ish though if I have no turns or ice patches. Its all depends how long my line of sight is. With snow you have to keep a consistent momentum. You can do this at 65 as easy as 35. Its the turns where you have to slow down.
I would be more than a little agitated if someone else got hit by a train and my truck was involved in the accident.
That's actually a fear of mine. I slow down at every crossing, but nobody else ever seems to. Same thing with intersections. I always slow down to a speed to where I could reasonably stop. Why doesn't anyone else?
3 for 1 and looks like white volvo was having mechanical issues and jumped out to waive down the train. His truck rolled forward because he didn't set the brakes.
To me, it looks like the KW backed up a bit. This could have prompted the Volvo, for some reason not justifying any of this, to move forward. Regardless, they both are way to close to the tracks, even if they didn't get hit, being that close is dangerous.
As long as they're hooked up correctly, yes, locos have their own brakes independently from the airbrakes used for the consist, much quicker, but useless if you have a long train
Holy shit is there actually anyone in that truck that rolled forward?? It really doesn’t look like it. I think the guy in the red shirt is the driver and he got out to flag the loco (he’s waving his arms and shit) and didn’t set his brakes!!!!! 😝🤣🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😲
If the Volvo wouldn't have moved forward they'd clear. The pete tried to back up but the frieghtliner behind him not knowing what was going on or couldn't move back looked like it got hit too.
Looks like both trucks would've been close but cleared it until the one moved up. Then when the train hit it pushed it into the second truck. Slowest train smoosh ever.
