I love wagons. The Buick roadmaster is exactly what it's name implies.
InotMeowMeow@reddit
I owned a 93 Roadmaster wagon with the 305. It was so slow but it would eat miles like nobody’s business. So quiet and comfortable. It was like driving my house around.
EssBeeUK@reddit
On my second Volvo V70 P2 (2000-2007). Not the best car I've driven. But by far the best vehicle I've owned. Supremely comfortable, ridiculously easy to convert to a full true flat rear loading area. Plenty quick enough. Not bad on fuel, reasonably easy to work on. The high performance 'R' is quick and tuneable from its standard 300bhp, it also has adjustable suspension and Haldex AWD. But...in the realworld you don't need it. And both those features break and expensive. Get a 2.4 or 2.5 FWD. Not a deal between them, I've had both.

Close second 1987 Buick GNX, all the land yacht aspect with a whole Lotta ass end to it. Its gonna have to have a 3 barrel supercharger otherwise it's a no go. So long as it's got at least a manual transmission and at least a Ls1 swap we in business folks. Prly not feasible as a daily, but it'd be a very fun track/dragstrip car.
For the time being though I'm happy with my '07 Tacoma SR5 :)

I'm easy, because I've always liked regular, domestic cars. As a kid, I wanted an old Mustang. Reaching adulthood, I found that most people who had an old car had a Mustang, Camaro, Vette, Cheverly, or Malibu.

Dodge Viper. Blue with white stripes. Made me fall for cars.
east_stairwell@reddit
My parents dragged 10yo me along to a Dodge dealership in the early 90s to buy a Caravan. I wasn’t into cars yet but when we walked into that showroom they had a beautiful monster of a machine sitting there glimmering under the overhead fluorescents. A red RT/10 with that mile long hood propped up showing off the V-10 and its Viper logo on the manifold. I walked around that car the entire time we were there just gawking at the engine, the side exhausts, and the 180!! MPH speedometer. For my next birthday I asked for a subscription to R&T and a 1:18 scale model of the Viper. I had no idea at the time what traction control was or ABS, or that an 8L V10 should definitely be developing more than 400HP — I just knew that it was the coolest car I’d ever seen and my parents were buying a minivan instead.

The second gen GTS coupe I assume? I don't think they made the first gen in blue. The first gen cars are awful... I own one... As a piece of art/history, it's stunning. As basically a race car/super car to do anything sporting with, it's awful. The entire suspension was basically from the Dakota parts department. Second gen actually had engineering behind it and 90% of the car is improved
sems4arsenal@reddit
The GTS indeed. It was also a flawed car but it was part of the appeal.

Well the made autos in both. Absolutely don’t do it thought the manual box makes that car.
Rapom613@reddit
Incorrect. The 550 only came manual, while the 575 was stick or F1, that’s why 575s are cheaper, because early single clutch automated manuals aren’t great.

I always loved the cars from the 1920s. In the mid 1950s I hade my mom make a shirt with about 20 old cars on it. I found out they had 5 different colors so I asked her to make 5 shirts with different colors. When I was about 12 O wore a different color “ old car shirt” everyday! Now I am an old man and about 4 years ago I went on a Xcounty trip and bought parts of 6 different cars from 1927 to 1929. I took all the parts and rebuilt enough to put together a completely custom old car. Just this week I finally got it complete enough to start the high performance Corvette engine. I am down to a day or so to actually take it outside and drive it around. I call it a Coupster. It main body was made from 3 different 1927 Ford coupes with the top cut off to be a roadster. It has custom fenders and running boards made from several 1929 Fords. It’s all red with tons of clear coated carbonfiber like the instrument panel, the tops of the running boards, the radiator cowl and tops of the doors wrapped all around from windshield pillar around the shoulders back to the opposite windshield panel. In about 1 week I will have my dream car! PS I have a show 1979 930 Turbo Porsche, 1966 BBC 450hp Corvette, a BMW M4 and several Tahoes, but this will be the car of my dreams!
Dagenhammer87@reddit
As a kid in the 90s, a jet black 82' Audi Quattro was top of the list.
There was also room for the MK3 Ford Capri, MK2 VW Scirocco and the GT Shelby.
Nowadays, I have a lot of love for the Lamborghini Urus; but even if I could afford it I wouldn't.
My car is by no means a show car, but it is loved and it is well looked after and maintained well ahead of things going wrong. It gets a regular service, parts get replaced before they become problematic and the only mod I've made is installing the latest sync (because the last one doesn't update any longer).
I've got 7 payments left on the bank loan (after buying out the car at the end of the payments - and this portion is the extra I took out for finishing touches when we had the kitchen redone).
The plan is to put those monthly payments into another pot eventually and this will pay for insurance, tax, servicing, parts and labour and then eventually will form part of the pot for a deposit for a newer one in about 3 years' time).
With a family, it's comfort and function over anything else and I couldn't be arsed with the constant cost of upkeep.

1969 chevelle for me since I was a little guy. My uncle had one in the early 90s, and although it wasn’t much to him back then, I was in love the first time I saw it and rode in the back. I love the body lines, the way it sits, the way it sounds with a big block, the smell of gas, the way it rumbles at the intersection. There are tons of cars I’d love to have, but the 1969 chevelle will always be in my garage and it’ll be the last thing I sell if I needed the money.
XLRick1969@reddit
Ha, my first car was a 69 Chevelle. 45 years later I can still say it was thee worst car I ever had. That 307 was a dog. Long story short, It was replaced by my dream car, a 1968 Ford XL Fastback. 390 cu.in power plant. The smoothness, the power, the lack hesitation and stalling was exhilarating. I’ve been a hard core Ford man ever since.
Hersbird@reddit
My dad passed away 8 years ago and I had helped him build a 69 SS 396 for my stepmom. I did the whole frame and suspension rebuild. It ended up with a nice body off paint job and the interior was always in good shape, so it was just cleaned and reassembled with new weatherstrip. It was an original SS but he always liked small blocks so it had a hot 327/turbo 400 in it instead, but was still a nice car. She didn't want to worry about it, probably needed some money and I couldn't afford buying it for a fair price so she sold it for about $20k to a nice guy who really appreciates it, but probably should have paid more. The restoration was not high end, and it was 15 years old then, but garage kept. Now that I have some money I would love to have it back along with like 3 square body pickups he had and a nice 85 K5 blazer. I'm not a Chevy guy, but I'm a miss my dad guy.

I've only ever been in 2 in real life. My dad had a 99 Lincoln Navigator in 09 and I drove a 2014 2 years ago.
I really want a 2017 Lincoln Navigator for my next vehicle.

Porsche 911. I’ve always admired the engineering persistence and resilience put into them. Reliable, comfortable ish, 4 seats, only a 6 cylinder, good in bad weather (even the RWD) yet it can go toe to toe with the best sports cars, best GT cars, and even some super cars. Win at lemans, out launch cars costing double or triple, and still carry your family. Overall the best all around car at virtually any price IMO
Now I work at a Porsche dealership, and it is every bit as good as I hoped. One day I’ll own one, one day

When I was 8 it was a 57 Chevy Belair 2dr HT. Then when I was 13 I got 1/2 ownership of one, just a straight rust free shell, but man I wish I still had it. We had that car for 10 years untouched but I went in the Navy and my dad sold it (with my permission). I had moved on to Mopar musclecars and ever since my dream car is a '71 Hemi Cuda. As far as tri 5 Chevys, I would rather have a 55 than a 57 now, but I think a 71 Hemi Cuda is peak car. I could have bought a nice 71 440 Cuda for $18k in 1988 and kind of still kick myself, but that was a lot of money in 88. Still even a 440 version that nice would be $100k today.

The 1st car i fell in love with was the 1972 Dodge Charger. I know, there are cooler cars out there, but that was my 1st love at 6 or 7 years old.
As I grew and learned about other cars, like the Ford GT40, Shelby Cobra, Cuda, GTO, and many others, i never lost my appreciation for that car.
I finally got one last year. It's a 74 instead of a 72 but essentially, the same. It's a restoration job that still needs a lot of work, but I'll at least have it running by spring. I can't wait to take it on its 1st drive.

Jr high/HS, Mazda RX7 FC, lance evo 7/8, those open wheel lotus super 7’s, ae86.
I ended up getting an ae86 end of 2nd year HS because rx7’s were not “reliable”. since then I’ve swapped my motor more than 8times. And yes the car is totally worth the hype when pushed to its limits. I’d buy one at a silly price today if I didn’t still have mine.

When was a kid in TX, rich people drove Cadillacs, prosperous people drove Buicks or Oldsmobiles, middle class people drove Pontiacs or Chevys. If you were a rebel, you might drive a Ford or Chrysler car. There were some other brands, now extinct. But there were absolutely no foreign cars. I promised myself that someday I'd drive a Cadillac.

Then it was a white Tesstarossa a la Miami Vice.

R32 GTR Skyline. Loved them growing up, mesmerized when I saw my cousins friends GTR in person 20 years back when they first became legal here in Canada, still love them. Got into Toyota VIP 4 doors when I got older and 2JZ are arguably a better engine than RB, but I still absolutely love R32 to this day.
That was the thing about Nissan before Renault took a steamy deuce on them, they made beautiful cars. If you take a '90 Z32, '90 BNR32, and a mid 90's Gloria, park them together, and tell someone that knows nothing about Japanese cars that they're all 2015 year cars they would believe it. Nissan was so good at making timeless designs
