That's one hell of a hearse! Is it normally used for dead basket ball players?

The Oldsmobile Toranado grille makes me wonder if they were inspired by this monstrosity
i-come@reddit
That is no monstrosity, man, it's freaking fabulous
Count_Dongula@reddit
They might be, or they might have used a Toronado power package and decided to use the front clip. It's probably easier to make a limo with a Toronado than it is the truck that thing started out as because it's front wheel drive, so there's no need for a custom driveshaft. Just extend the brake lines and frame as long as is needed.
theknyte@reddit
Yep. You get easily get a 455ci FWD system into whatever by using the Toro's package. Which gives you more than enough power and torque to move whatever monstrosity you attached it to.
Drzhivago138@reddit
I wonder if they started with the GMC Motorhome frame. The wheelbase looks similar.
Count_Dongula@reddit
That's also a possibility. Doesn't explain the Toronado front clip though.
___ItsMe___@reddit
I believe they shared the same drive train so I guess it makes sense to put the front clip on
Count_Dongula@reddit
I get that, but I don't know why other than as a tribute. As it stands, there's already a truck and what looks like two suburbans in that thing. Having a Toronado body lying around makes sense in that context.
Drzhivago138@reddit
I don't see any Suburban in this, mostly a '56 Ford pickup cab and fenders.
Count_Dongula@reddit
Those windows look to me to be from a Suburban. Two suburbans, which makes me think he took the rear section from two suburbans and grafted it on.
Drzhivago138@reddit
The side windows, like the back, look like generic sliding windows you can get at a hardware store.
Count_Dongula@reddit
No, you're right. The body crease is wrong too. So did this guy just take sheet metal and do this?
Drzhivago138@reddit
I think so. The fenders were also used on Flareside pickups from 1953 all the way through 1979, so it wouldn't be hard to find extras to make the extensions.
mini4x@reddit
Cocaine explains it all.
mini4x@reddit
And those were also Torondo based too so probably.. I see a bit of COE in there too.
THe more you look the worse it gets,.

Dangerous_Echidna229@reddit
Just the powertrain was Toronado based.
OliverNorvell1956@reddit
My thought as well, with the dual rear axles. It looks like they had a fair number of donor vehicles for this thing, so who knows.
scobo505@reddit
That’s a good question 🙋♂️
mrtn17@reddit
that's the car version of a teenager. It has braces and a random growth spurt
ReRevengence69@reddit
imagine your mom died and this shows up to pick up her body
tsunamionioncerial@reddit
Just a Mormon SUV
perldawg@reddit
now that is one goddamned weird set of wheels
eyeb4lls@reddit
Wow that toronado(?) front end looks like it took a lot of work.
It looks like shit.
adudeguyman@reddit
Front wheel drive
Plump_Apparatus@reddit
I feel bad for the Toronado, they're beautiful cars. This thing however is the ugly stick used to beat other things until they're ugly.
Healthy_Title8920@reddit
lol. I think the same thing.
The_Bubbanbrenda@reddit
I’m not a fan but I do have respect for the craftsmanship.
rockatanski_81@reddit
Hearse for the human millipede?
Yes millipede. MORE
cheebamech@reddit
I know it's a 'truck' but the first thought in my head was "it's a multi-coffin hearse"
Few-Land-5927@reddit
What is this, a hearse for giraffes??
ArtThouAngry@reddit
Giraffes and snakes
Artemus_Hackwell@reddit
Looks like it would hold four coffins?
Which-Technician2367@reddit
I love it, I just wish the rest of the roofline lined up with the cab in a smoother way, but otherwise it looks pretty awesome!
Effective-Evening651@reddit
Part of me likes it, but more of me is screaming "WHERE THE HELL ARE THE HEADLAMPS?" More of me is most correct.
MordoksVapePen1@reddit
Love the OG Toronado grill!
SovjetPojken@reddit
They mixed some beautiful vehicles to create a hideous monstrosity.
Theseus-Paradox@reddit
Looks like a dust buster hha
CanaveralSB@reddit
I’m hoping there is another door on the other side or you’re going be pissed every time something rolls to the front of the rear bed… Daggumit!
Mustang369@reddit
I mean… it’s beautiful… for some reason
djscoots10@reddit
The backend is higher than the front end.
kashinoRoyale@reddit
Probably heavy duty suspension, the combination of 2 sets of springs in the rear, or it has air bags on the rear and they aren't inflated properly to level it evenly.
djscoots10@reddit
I am a bit concerned.
SteelHip@reddit
Maybe they really wanted a Jetway but could not buy one ?
ProfessionalDue7296@reddit
This has got to be a GMC fwd motorhome, because of the length and the Oldsmobile toranado front end
Virtual-Height3047@reddit
Could be a horse trailer for tiny horses?
Or the guy (gal?) has a lot of dogs. Like.. a lot of dogs.
s6cedar@reddit
Ow, my corneas
Endoterrik@reddit
Well, if the suspension is well rated, it’d be good for lumber yard runs. Heck, probably be able to fit telephone poles in it.
V65Pilot@reddit
I don't know why, but I like it. I shouldn't, but I do.
