Do I need to use the same ram sticks if I purchase another set?

I currently have a set of G.Skill trident Z5 NEO sticks (2x32GB). I've searched this up and they are very expensive. F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR - Overview - G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd.
I am looking at the G.Skill trident Z5 NEO (2x16GB) which is way closer to my budget. F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR - Overview - G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd.
The reason I am looking into this is because I believe one of my current sticks is starting to fail and I am thinking if I get two more to add to my current set up it might help in some way.

What makes you think your RAM is failing?

Most of the time when I boot up the ram ez debug light stays on and nothing happens until I power down the PC the second time around it generally comes to life. I have tried reseating the sticks but with no luck.

If the issue persists after reseating the RAM, that could indicate it's not the RAM.
Could be the CPU or GPU that needs reseating. Check your motherboards manual to the exact color or possible blinking of the EZ Debug light. It could point you right to the culprit.
Often times an outdated BIOS can cause hardware detection issues, so check for updates.

The motherboard manual states "DRAM - indicates DRAM is not detected or fail."
There are no updates needing to be done.
How would I go about updating BIOS? Does it need to be done off a flash drive?

You'd go to your motherboards website to check to see if a more recent BIOS is available.
You can check your current BIOS version within your BIOS.
