How would you even sue for something like that? Like there I was just minding my own damn business trying to break into and rob that trailer when that inconsiderate malicious driver took off driving. I hung on until I decided I didn’t want to pass my homies house so I let go to go say hi to my homie when I experienced severe emotional trauma, road rash, and stubbed my big toe.

There's no federal law against it but various states do have booby trap laws. Granted they tend to be vague, but cases usually end up going against the person who uses said booby trap, not the person who set said trap off.

So if you go ask a lawyer, the common advice will be to not do so, some will even emphasize it in all caps.
