I wish they would just continue doing the grand tour with different cars and challenges.
Doesn’t have to be crazy exotic international as it was, just be normal international. Nobody cares if they’ve been there already if they are still reviewing different cars.
Bandguy_Michael@reddit
Stuff like Lochdown, Eurocrash, or International Buffoon’s Vacation. Fun, but not too exotic.
emperorarg@reddit
I would have rather they got into three regular cars and tour the UK. In one episode they could tour various farmers markets, in another they could tour a coupleof gin distilleries, and in another they could tour a couple of factories that make parts for car restoration.
shitboxfesty@reddit
I love all three of them, but I truly feel like Hammond is the most actually relatable real car guy of the bunch.
bobombpom@reddit
I relate more to May, but I'm also not really that much of a car guy.
TGX03@reddit
It's really funny how they got a character for everyone.
Rubeus17@reddit
james does truly love cars though. Just a little slower than the others.
What makes Richard special is taking Daphne to France when he could have driven his new Porsche! I would have taken the Porsche.
black-op345@reddit
Also Hammond, doesn’t bash on American cars as much as Clarkson (or May to a degree). Yes, he gets teased about it, but he’s very down to earth and doesn’t come off as snobby because of it.
thelierama@reddit
Hammond loves American cars (per the show). He was testing Ram or was it a Traverse, early in TG. Then he brought his Mustang and was showing it across key UK monuments in the other.
SavouryPlains@reddit
i would’ve taken Daphne, too
But i’m also a bit mad, I do long distance motocamping on a dog ass slow 125cc bike
DutchMitchell@reddit
May really is the most interesting boring man out there. I’d love to sit with him to talk about trains or planes.
_______o-o_______@reddit
His recent "vlogs" while traveling in California were quite good!
trekin73@reddit
I really enjoyed those.
obiwankevobi@reddit
Were these on his YouTube? I'm subscribed but do not recall seeing them?
trekin73@reddit
Yes. James Gin YouTube. Maybe a month ago.
Cefer_Hiron@reddit
The 'Machina' channel on YouTube are releasing 40 minutes episodes of James May reassembling full machines alone, without any soundtrack...
... And they are GREAT!
ccReptilelord@reddit
I watch him make some of the most uninspiring sandwiches on YouTube.
LuckyRedShirt@reddit (OP)
Flood the cowling, plenty of it.
chrissie_watkins@reddit
May is maybe my favorite character, but he's also a troll. He has no issue making conflicting statements back to back just to stir people up. I get it, he likes being a butthead. And Clarkson is all about entertainment and bold statements and generally just being an ass. But Hammond is more genuine when it comes down to it, so if you want an actual opinion or review, he's the guy in my opinion.
Lady-Seashell-Bikini@reddit
This is why I like Hammond. When he's joking, it's extremely obvious, so when he gives an opinion, you can guarantee that it's just a genuine opinion.
_______o-o_______@reddit
I bought a brush to clean my air vents because of May.
Maximusgoobe@reddit
Same. It's a great tool for the purpose. Also great for dusting the top of the steering wheel.
shitboxfesty@reddit
I’m die hard, and much like how he became Attached to his cars in the specials especially Oliver, I tend to be able to feel the “personality” of my cars. You spend enough time with them and you just kinda get it.
Schwartzy94@reddit
Also i feel like as he is the youngest he would have been most eager to continue for a while. But good that they got the ending they wanted.
Thatguy7242@reddit
He just looks...sad. Like all his purpose is gone and he's trying to fill it with whatever analog of his old life he can. Heartbreaking to see him like this.
Lady-Seashell-Bikini@reddit
He is going through a divorce. Of course he's sad.
explodinghat@reddit
I love the optimism behind 'common sense will prevail, it always does.' Not sure how easy it is to believe these days, but it's nice to hear.
Mensketh@reddit
I mean, he's also flat wrong about his common sense solution. He says the technology all exists, but politics is the problem. The technology to pull carbon out of the atmosphere exists only at very small scales, and scaling it up has proven enormously difficult to the point of no longer being seen as feasible by many in the field.
JohnPaul_II@reddit
Yeah, he's really misinformed on this. And still banging on about hydrogen like it's 2009 and it seemed like a legitimate alternative to batteries.
Batteries have developed a hell of a lot since then. Hydrogen hasn't. He's years out of date. All of his concerns about batteries can be answered with "just use smaller cars" and "get better at recycling and refurbishing batteries".
Never take "common sense" advice about this sort of thing from a man driving an enormous American pickup truck on UK roads and talking about how he'd like an even bigger one.
LickMyKnee@reddit
Hope he’s doing ok. Him and Mindy seemed perfect for each other.
ConnorKeane@reddit
Sadly it often happens when one partner travels a lot and then retires. Two people who are great together when they have their time away can’t cope being together full time anymore, all those years of separation change the dynamics of their relationship and they don’t realize it till it’s too late.
enjoyingthesun1@reddit
Your absolutely correct, my marriage didn't survive it either.
ConnorKeane@reddit
I’m so sorry, I hope things are better for you now.
richardhammondshead@reddit
Yeah, from what I have read for years the trio were never around. Clarkson once talked about how he was home for days at a time and was never not travelling or staying at his apartment in London filming and working at BBC offices. I can’t imagine a marriage where you’re never home. Like Anthony Bourdain, it caused the end of his marriage.
Beahner@reddit
And it’s a recorded drive like this that reminds me Richard will always be relevant and a good listen. Not that I needed reminding, but I got it anyway.
The comment about “what if I took 2002 Hammond and showed him how big this would become?”, and Richard says “I wouldn’t have worked so hard”……spot on. That is pure wisdom right there.
The pod Richard does with Izzy is coming back shortly. I’ll look forward to listening in to most of those.
Beneficial-Record433@reddit
es ist auch nur nach Drehbuch wie jeder andere Serie auch.. da hat jeder seine rolle und sein Charakter den er verkörpern muss. also kommt wieder runter und esst erstmal ein mars
fartbraintank@reddit
Lockdown vids with Hammond and May were good
individualcoffeecake@reddit
I miss the gang, not gonna lie. Feels like part of my family is gone.
ihatetrainslol@reddit
Would love to see Hammond do more things from the comfort of his own home. Hed make a great YouTuber or at most a good host for other genres like he was forced Brainiac Science.
JimBean@reddit
Totally jealous of the Himalayan trip. Definitely something I would love to do.
Good watch, ta...
