“AR style pistol” sigh… what’s next, AR style knife?

What’s wrong with AR style pistol? If he had an AR9 with a barrel under 16 inches that’s a pretty apt description.

To be reallllllll pedantic, it should just be "AR pistol", not style. It is functionally an AR-15 in pistol configuration.

Don’t be daft lol, you know what they are saying. ATF’s dumbass rules essentially make it where you can have an SBR, drop the stock and add a brace, and now it’s considered a pistol. They were selling drop-in sears alongside the switches, so converting to full auto really isnt hard

Unless you have them in a stabilizing brace like an MCK, in which case they are quite nice. That being said it does require some modification to the brace so the slide can completely cycle…at least that’s what i heard

I am trained and proficient in handgun. I have had the opportunity to actually shoot a Glock 18 (Glock Manufactured Full-Auto) legally. They are quite controllable for anyone who knows how to shoot handguns. Heck watch the news report video, and they will show an officer on two different times mag dumping a switched Glock. The muzzle is easy to manage.

Probably half of companies insta-reject him when he looks for a new position, but for the most part he’s built a steady career from turning wrenches and being a pseudo-genius at his expertise niche. There’s a point where they hire enough idiots and spend enough fixing their mess that they literally don’t care who the guy is that can actually solve and fix the problem anymore lol.
View on Reddit #45781807

Paradox1989@reddit

> the only way to make decent money as a felon is to go into the trades. Yep, i work construction and a lot of the guys I hire are felons. Most of our jobs nowadays require background checks and drug test before being allowed on site. Whether they pass the check has more to do with: 1) How long ago the felony was (5-7 years is usually the max back they check) School districts are typically the exception, they go back to when you were 18. 2) What was the felony. DUI, assaults, or weapon charges are the biggest typical disqualifers. But then as long as they were 5 to 7 years ago your good. 3) Who the job is for. School district (DISD) is the most restrictive, any felony back to when you were 18 disqualifies you. DFW Airport which you would think is high security, as long as it was 5 years ago and not drug/human trafficking or hijacking and your good to get badged to bypass TSA security.

It’s hilarious how much of a waste of time this is to pursue. Full auto handguns are useless unless you’re mag dumping at the range. They are difficult to aim and just waste ammo. They definitely aren’t making the gun any deadlier
View on Reddit #45745044

ThirdRamon@reddit

I’m as pro gun as it gets (repeal the NFA), but the people who use these aren’t aiming to begin with. They typically are just doing drive-by shootings where they inaccurately mag dump into “Opps” and bystanders. I think there’s a very sound argument to be made that switches increase the danger to bystanders, as criminals are able to exponentially increase their rounds down range during these drive-bys. Still think it’s bullshit they’re illegal though.
View on Reddit #45746059

o_g@reddit

I'd be alright with allowing new machine guns to be added to the registry, but still requiring the stamp and background check.
View on Reddit #45782300

View on Reddit #45812350

ThirdRamon@reddit

I think that this is a reasonable take, and would be a compromise that gun rights advocates would be willing to make should the opportunity arise.
View on Reddit #45783256

as_an_american@reddit

If there’s a sound argument that they make the guns unsafe to operate as intended then why shouldn’t they be illegal? This doesn’t seem to be a 2A issue to me.
View on Reddit #45768979

ThirdRamon@reddit

It doesn’t make the gun unsafe to operate. It just makes a Glock full auto. It’s basically just a little “switch” (a sear) that blocks the trigger block from resetting when the trigger is held, hence full auto.
View on Reddit #45769938

as_an_american@reddit

I could be wrong but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a full auto Glock shot with a semblance of accuracy. Shooting full auto through a handgun with a 4-5 inch barrel leaves very little room to control recoil on a platform that already has a larger margin for error than a rifle. If the purpose of the 2A is to prevent tyranny through arming the populace I don’t see how a switch that renders a gun ineffective at shooting accurately furthers that goal. I think I saw a video of a guntuber shooting with a switch and he was doing 3 round bursts and only hitting a torso target at 10 yards once for every three shots. And that’s not a mag dump which would be even worse. This seems to violate the most basic rule of firearm safety, know what you’re shooting at. In a gun with such a small sight radius, even tiny variations in aim can throw bullets way off target and I think the switch basically makes these guns impossible to aim in a way that wouldn’t endanger others EVEN in the hands of a trained shooter. That plus the fact that they aren’t reliable and are ineffective, and therefore in no way “necessary to the security of a free state” means to me that they can be regulated. Just my thoughts at least.
View on Reddit #45771848

deja-roo@reddit

I've fired a full auto Glock. It's hard to control, but you can do it. Mag dump would be a little unrealistic to control, but like you said, a 3-5 round burst can land rounds on target.
View on Reddit #45779524

ThirdRamon@reddit

While I wont sit here and try to argue that full auto glocks (or any full auto pistol for that matter) are wieldy, You do tend to grossly exaggerate how unwieldy they are in a proficient user's hand. A full auto glock can most certainly be held on a torso sized target at 7-10 yards. But I also wont sit here and try to say that a glock switch is something that I even specifically want. Where the issue lies is with the NFA hand the Hughes Amendment in 1986, which effectively bans the sale of full auto firearms to the civilian populous, unless it was made and registered under the NFA before 1986. This has created a finite supply of legal full auto firearms accessible to the civilian populous, and has caused prices of those firearms to skyrocket to the point of only the super wealthy being able to obtain them. For example, a semi-auto AR-15 can be obtained for $500. A registered full auto AR-15 runs between $30,000-40,000. Under US v. Miller (ironically the case that upheld the NFA), the Court held that firearms protected under the 2A must have a military purpose i.e. be in use in the military. I think you'd be hard pressed to argue that full auto firearms and short barrel rifles aren't in common use in the military, when the standard issue rifle (the M4) is both a SBR and full auto. Short barrel shotguns are also in use, but to a lesser extent no doubt. In addition to US v. Miller, the Court recently held that firearms laws must be rooted in the historical traditions of America. We currently don't have precedent defining what time period specifically constitutes the "Historical Traditions", but whether you look at the establishment of the Bill of Rights, or the Post Antebellum period, neither time period restricts full auto firearms. Regardless of what precedent you look at regarding the 2A, the regulation of full auto firearms should be found unconstitutional. Just my thoughts though.

Terrible take… “Definitely aren’t making the gun any deadlier” - sure the average dumbfuck who acquires a sear isn’t practicing recoil management or any other accuracy improving techniques. Insert the example of the innocent civilian 2 walls away getting beamed. So yes, more deadly on that premise alone. Furthermore, let’s say one of these criminals acquires a second, even a third, brain cell and does practice. Perhaps they get a can, improved slide, or any of the other accessories that improve weapon handling. Now you’ve got a non-regarded criminal with a bo6 equipped Gucci Glock that’s able to dump 1,200 rounds per minute. 20 per second… 120 round mags aren’t dependable, or affordable at $500+, but 6 seconds of full auto, 120 rounds, at any skill level would be absolutely devastating from 15y or less. So you’re dumb basically.

Big gun guy here. It's INSANE how popular glock switches have become. People openly post them on IG, and TikTok, rap about them, put them in rap videos. Anyone that knows anything about guns know that owning a unregistered machine gun/pistol gets you big fed prison time. Who's flooding the market w/ these? China? They aren't OEM glock switches, they aren't stolen registered glock switches. It's hard to explain how rare it was to see one of these to them being common enough to show up on a city subreddit.

There are NO OEM Glock switches. Glock made the G18, the function is integral to that specific firearm, and can't be used in other models due to very different internal designs and function. There are also no pre-ban G18 in the USA only dealer samples. I have had the opportunity to shoot two different ones, one a G18 one a G18C (compensated).
