Definitely. I'm going to a metal festival in Wales on my own later this year. Simply cant be bothered with keeping track of friends at stuff like this. Much easier alone, can drift between stages and do what ever I want without having to compromise

You can, I’ve been to days festivals with my mates and we’ve got the occasional random person join us for the day. We don’t mind. Obviously though our night out rules are still in place like don’t leave one person by themselves with the newbie and don’t take drinks off of them etc.

Absolutely and can be equally as fun. You can either just chill alone or it’s fairly obvious to work out who’s up for a chat and a beer. My festival group for Bloodstock is about 10 of us, between 11-11 I’d be shocked if I caught more than a 5 minute conversation with most of them as we all do our own thing / see our own bands anyway.

I used to go to T in the Park for the full three days on my own. Initially, it wasn't by choice but you'd be amazed how many bands you can see when you don't have to worry about other people. You can move around the venue faster and your choice of bands is all that matters. Even getting food or going to the toilet is so much easier. Maximises the time you're actually watching performances.

Day festival would be OK, it is just a long gig after all. Probably more to amuse yourself with as well, the awkward part of solo gigs is when they are soundchecking between bands. Just got to stand there like a lemon with a beer. At a festival there could be music on somewhere, constantly, or other stuff to see. I have spent chunks of days at festivals alone, pre-mobile losing people or just wanting to see a different band. But if it was camping solo, that would be miserable.

Sure. I think it could be very chill to just do your own thing, moving around as you feel inspired to do so. I would only be careful about anything you ingest, as you don't have someone to sit with you.

Do it. I've done Hyde Park BST on my own as day festivals and loved it. This year I'm going to Rock Am Ring in Germany. Nothing to lose from doing it on your own. Get yourself in subreddits, fan groups for bands and events and you've got every chance of making new friends through it too.

You can do pretty much anything on your own. Big events like that nobody will even notice you're by yourself, and even if they do and you don't want to admit you're alone just say 'I'm looking for my friends'.

Did camping festivals solo as well as the day one where I used to live. Not everyone was into the same music and TBH the day one was more out of habit by the time I moved, not going to spend money on a train and bnb for a free festival I was now indifferent to.

Yes. I've been to festivals on my own. Had a great time. I bumped into lots of folks I kind of knew, made new friends, and just did the things I wanted to do without having to wait for a whole gang of people to mobilise. It might depend on the festival - I reckon best at ones where there are nice places to chill and/or lots of things you want to go see.

I've been to festivals by myself but I found it a pretty miserable experience. One time I met a group of people, was hanging out with them, went to get a beer but they vanished. No idea why as I was on my best behaviour. Spent most of the time sleeping in my tent as it was too much of a drag trying to mix in. Never again!
