Where did I go wrong besides the obvious!?

So, dilemma here!! Please no comments making fun of me or being rude. I just need proper guidance to succeed. I am clearly a new programmer. And I mean very new. I chose, to do the, obviously incorrect thing, and jump right into trying to install Kali Linux on my computer before even knowing how to code. I know a few things but not enough. Well, something happened and the install didn't go right. Here is what I did (with areas I already know I messed up in): • Right away, I found a USB drive, forgetting to back up my windows, I installed Kali Linux onto my drive and and I stalled it onto my system. (Kali Linux iso 4gb) • where did I "find" this drive from? Did I format it first? Nope! **It was used to transfer files from one account to another on my dad's computer and then to a phone. It had drivers installed on it. --therfore, I know it is possible that my Kali was installed with other driver or the drivers were corrupted. • my Kali Linux appears to be installed successfully. But now I wiped my windows and have Kali only.
***HERES MY DILEMMA! IT APPEARS TO HAVE NO NETWORK CONNECTION AND IS GREYED OUT. I DONT EVEN FET THE OPTION TO SEARCH FOR ONE. PLUS!! EVERY COMMAND I TRY ENDS UP WITH AN ERROR!. either it can't be found or can't be located or it's not pkg not installed or I don't have permissions. Theres several errors I run into. How can I fix all of this. ***
NO I DO JOT EANT TO JUST GO BACK TO WINDOWS. WHEN I START SOMETHING I HAVE TO FINISH IT. PLEASE, CAN SOMEONE HELP ME ACCOMPLISH MY MISSION!
THANK YOU!

Perhaps if you take a photo of the commands you typed and errors , we might have better idea ?
And also this is learnprogramming sub.
Why not ask in Linux sub ?

I tried asking several groups involving Linux, python, and Kali and they all just laughed at me or was rude. There was one response with a legit answer but her command she told me to try did not work. I will send photos in 2 minutes

Any reason why you didn't use VM to learn ?

Okay. Thanks for the tip! And I should have but I literally just followed a YouTube video and it was way more simpler with less steps then I realized and before I could even question it I was already on the last step. I did it when I was half asleep and multi-tasking mom life. So at the worst time possible. Now I'm just trying to see it though and then I will go back to installing windows and leave this alone. I just need to accomplish some part of this for my own fulfillment. To prove I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. To boost my self esteem. Help me out of this depression funk.

I have a couple back projects I wanted to try and do. They already reached their deadline but I still really want to see if I'm capable of learning such things. This is how I learn. By knowing how to do it will tell me how easy a hacker can do it and show me what all they can do. By actually understanding the process. . So, therefore, I need something such as Kali to pursue this.

Ok but again , why not ask in Liux subs ?
You are asking for help or you are telling us what is happening?

Try a Linux mint live usb. Boot into Linux mint then try stuff. If it works then install it. If you told Linux to overwrite your drive previously, then windows is permanently gone. However if you installed as dual boot then windows is there somewhere you just need to re install the windows boot loader. If you want to keep windows try this first until you can boot windows then start experimenting with mint. Linux distribution makes no difference for programming. For that matter windows is fine for programming.

“WHEN I START SOMETHING I HAVE TO FINISH IT”.
I mean, nah. You gotta know your limits otherwise you’ll just hurt yourself more than you’ll gain from it. Realistically, the best option is to fix Windows to be back the way it was, and just learn coding through using an IDE.
That way, you’re actually learning rather than making yourself suffer and realising in the end this could’ve been so, so much easier.
You’ve recognised the hole you dug, so don’t go deeper.

Thanks. I have a bad tendency to go too far sometimes and end up just getting myself in trouble. So I appreciate your advice.

Look up the "fail fast" philosophy. But also you look like you should learn how to focus on something first.

Don't use kali to program. Kali is a suite of tools for "hacking" not programming. You might have an easier time just using Ubuntu until you get familiar with Linux. You probably need to install a network driver if it's greyed out. Use your phone and Google the docs. Documentation will be your best friend in situations like this. 👍
