How likely will Boeing build a stretch 777-10X?

Apparently such a variant is feasible although not sure how they would go about maintaining a decent range.

I don’t think a 10 ft stretch is worth it.
I don’t think a >10ft stretch is worth it either, since it would bust the 80m box.

let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, they have yet to certify the -9 so one thing at a time.
as for that capacity.... probably not nearly enough demand to justify the development. Airport operators are also not keen on another plane that would extend past most tail of stand roads.

Boeing needs to get its shit together with its multiple existing dumpster fire programs before it starts another dumpster fire.
Furthermore, I think the next Boeing dumpster fire will be a mid-size airplane to replace the 757 and super-stretch 737s and compete with the A321. That's a pretty big hole in their lineup right now, and probably the nearest alligator to the boat.

At the rate they’re going the bigger question is how likely is it that the -9X will actually enter service?

What for? Their 777X isnt a big commercial success so far…

The 777-9 and 777-8F are both outselling their competitors (A350-1000, and A350F). You’re right that the 777-8 isn’t a big commercial success, but neither was the 777-200LR it replaced. It’s simply an offering between the 787-10 and 777-9 for airlines looking for a long-range platform.
Keep in mind that Boeing was building the aircraft that the 777X was intended to replace until as late as 2022, so there isn’t any real urgency to replace those units just yet. The same thing happened with the A330NEO; it was a very slow burn of orders in the early years, until Airbus finally stopped building A330 Classics and the worldwide A330 fleet got old enough to necessitate new orders for the NEO.

778F not that big a success, 779 is indeed much better. But building a stretch version would canibalize on the 779. That was actually my point.
330Neo isnt really a commercial success in my opinion. But it bothered Boeing.

I think it’s very possible. There’s probably room in the frame for the -10 stretch, but they need to get the -9 and -8 certified and in production consistently before devoting resources to a -10.
By the time they’re ready to make the -10, it may not be necessary.

Let them build any 777X first.
747ER@reddit
Haven’t they built like 25 of them?
WindowLicker298@reddit
Well, they have a few of them already. They just can’t fly

Range should be easy, just slap a few auxiliary fuel tanks in the cargo hold.
As far as I can tell, the current 777X models don't have any auxiliary fuel tanks, their extra fuel capacity comes from the larger wing.
