I know we like to recommend podcasts to each other to pass the time, and I'm always trying to discover new ones so how about this:
Instead of saying "Go check out XYZ Podcast,"
What is the BEST SINGLE EPISODE of a Podcast that you like?
I'll Start:
-
Reply All - #158 The Case of the Missing Hit
-
Freakonomics Radio - 42. The Upside of Quitting

Every episode is the best.

You’re Wrong About episodes I’m fond of:
Courtney Love Gangs The Donner Party
We Hate Movies:
Waterworld Dick Tracy Under Siege 2 Tank Girl
RainierCamino@reddit
The Dollop #400-401 - Ronald Reagan
TimeSuck #57 - Andrei Chikatilo: The Butcher of Rostov (or maybe #394 Dick Byrd, but there are years of running jokes in there)
Behind the Bastards #74-75 - The International Church of: Drink Bleach
Great_Bambi@reddit
Hail Lucifina brother! Might I add the suggestion of #141 Albert Fish because of the absurdity of the entire episode and maybe sprinkle in #314 George M'Fin Carlin
RainierCamino@reddit
Man I thought about recommending that piping hot peanut buttbutter! ... But I've got a couple friends who tried listening to that for their episode and they couldn't handle it
flergityberg@reddit
I LOVE Behind the Bastards. The Mark Zuckerberg series is my favorite.
Timecook@reddit
I enjoy the concept but the host and producer annoy the hell out of me.
scottiethegoonie@reddit (OP)
Got these saved.
RainierCamino@reddit
Hope you enjoy. They've all got a back catalog years long at this point.

Swindled. Episode 10. The Judges (Cash for kids)

Regulation Podcast - Season 4, Episode 1 // I'm Gonna Set the Law on Gire [84]
This episode is one of my favorites, but there's a lot of lore and inside jokes that makes it worthwhile to start from the beginning instead.
Zeon_Pilot83@reddit
A fellow regulation listener? Trying to play trucks irl?
jmzstl@reddit
To be honest I haven’t listened to this or any podcasts in a while. I only just found out it’s not called Fuckface anymore. But I remembered I always found myself dying of laughter and the whole “printing the law” thing and mid-episode season change was one of my favorites.

Scary stories by Dr. NoSleep
Episode: Something twisted crawled out from the edge of the universe, and it’s coming our way.

Thank me later!
PhantomGeass@reddit
Let Them Fight - episode 104, Richard Chase
Diablo_Bolt@reddit
Anti Hero Podcast either the Tim Kennedy book of lies episode or the Rob O’Neill web of lies episode
solostepper@reddit
Two favorites that go together because the guests talk about each other: the Smartless episode with Conan and their episode with Stephen Colbert, both are laugh-out-loud funny.
FreeAndRedeemed@reddit
Kill Tony episode #672. Shane Gillis as Trump and Adam Ray as Biden. Comedy fucking gold!
Timecook@reddit
Hardcore History - The Mongols
tvieno@reddit
The Mongols was good though I liked Supernova In The East more.
To be honest, his recent Alexander the Great episode just didn't hold it for me.
cpc985@reddit
2nd this.
stateside_irishman@reddit
Cumtown - Steven Segal. It's absolutely hilarious.
form_jake@reddit
lpotl jones town
Timecook@reddit
The Ed Gein and Donner Party episodes are also really good. High quality podcast overall.
duhrun@reddit
Joe Rogan Experience #1315 - Bob Lazar & Jeremy Corbell, I love this episode and listen to it all the time.
scottiethegoonie@reddit (OP)
This is the type of JRE content I actually enjoy but I never really know if his guests are full of it.
Timecook@reddit
The alien/alternative history guests are the only episodes I can tolerate of JRE anymore. Ever since CNN made him look orange he’s gone full bore conspiracy theory, just to the left of Alex Jones and it’s not listenable anymore.

I found the really smart guy who sucked at taking tests

The Church of What's Happening Now- Episode 383 with Theo Von
USPSRay@reddit
I highly recommend More Perfect, episode title "The Gun Show." It's a fascinating show on the second amendment, and it goes places that you would not expect.

Ghost stories for the end of the world - this podcast dips into many areas connected to the mafia, cia, p2 networks and a lot of the crazy shit left behind from WW2
The telepathy tapes - it’s about how autistic people have mind reading abilities and communicate with each other non verbally
EddieTreetrunk@reddit
Truck nuts , the dollop (for truck adjacent )
ToastedDizguise@reddit
Tim Dillon - Gates of Hell
billybobjoe2017@reddit
Bob's Fridge

Any episode of "Shit Town" Any podcast by Dan Taberski, especially "Y2K" and "Running from COPS"
Sirtopofhat@reddit
This is cheating but the Comedy Bang Bang best of. It's 4 episodes cut from 1 but it's there best bits of the past year.
Baddy001@reddit
Lex Friedman podcast - #331 Balaji Srinivasan
Absolute banger for like 8hrs.
scottiethegoonie@reddit (OP)
I'll check it out. I like some of Lex's pods but they're all a huge investment. Sometimes it's way over my head, other times it's just the shock value of the guest being interviewed that sucks me in.
Washedhockeyguy@reddit
What do they discuss
Baddy001@reddit
Everything from Government inefficiency to the FDA, crypto at one point. Investments. Literally all kinds of things. I think the episode is about a year old now.
CapitanPino@reddit
That Hot Heat - Theo Von. Never died laughing more in my life than this solo podcast. Its barely an hour but damn...
