Just drop the money on the Garmin. It's the size of your palm, and can be set up and running in under a minute. It can be set up and running in more like 10 seconds. It works damn well, and it's unprecedentedly simple to use, simple to carry, simple to understand. It's sort of a revolutionary product. If this is really your first chrono, you're living a new era, luckily, where complicated, ugly, and difficult chronographs are becoming a thing of the past. Garmin has made clocking your shots much more accessible because even though people had them in the past, their design ensured only a certain sliver of people used them. And don't be fooled by the Garmin's ridiculously simplicity. It isn't an introductory product that's just easy for a beginner. It perhaps extremely well for any skill level, and just happens to be easy to use. It does not chronograph down range velocity, please note.
