Considering a move to Canada for University from Lebanon

I’m really lost on what I should do with my future and could use some advice. I’m a Canadian citizen but have never lived in Canada. I’ve recently applied to Concordia, UdeM, and McGill, and I was also accepted for early admissions at The American University Of Beirut, I’m considering making the move to Canada. The idea is to study university in Canada, and to visit Lebanon over the summer (from May to August). I’ve got family in Canada (a cousin, my father, and an uncle), which is reassuring, but I’m still on the fence. One of the main reasons I’m considering the move is the lifestyle. Canada seems to offer better access to basic needs, public transportation, and an overall higher quality of life. But I’ve read quite a bit about the challenges of socializing there. It sounds like friendships in Canada are often more superficial compared to the deep, family-like bonds we have back home. That said, I do wonder if it’s possible to connect with other Lebanese people in Canada who share similar values and can match my wavelength. Maybe that could help bridge the gap and make the transition easier? I’d love to hear from anyone who’s made a similar move.

Canada has great universities, but the cost of living is very high, and jobs are very hard to come by. There is a trend of Canadians moving to the United States in search of more job opportunities and more affordable rents.
If you plan on becoming a healthcare professional in Canada, you will have better odds of finding work upon graduation. Canada is experiencing a shortage of healthcare professionals.
IT or software engineering? Good luck with that.

I’m assuming you’re young. I’d take the chance now while you can. Life will throw more obstacles in the way the older you get… and if it doesn’t work out, it’s not the end of the world. You can always go home.

The cost of living is really high. Jobs are scarce at least from what I hear from people. Getting education here is not bad (although not free and when compared to German or French free education , they are not smarter)
