Taurus GX2

We received our first shipment of the new G2X from Taurus. I realize Taurus as a brand is polarizing, people love them or hate them.
Personally, I think it feels great in the hand and the trigger is solid. The ergonomics are fantastic It really feels similar to the Walther PD380 in my hand. Really hard to beat at $239.99.
Anyway, I'm really curious how you guys and gals feel? Is this a cop or drop for you?
drowninginboof@reddit
saw a taurus blow up in my uncle's hand when i was a kid. gruesome. would not own one if they paid ME $239.99

Even if it was free basically 😂😂😂

I’m holding off for the Toro version. I’m bro interested but it’s not optics ready. Soon as they have the Toro version I’m going to get one.
Charming_Ad_591@reddit
Bad news they're not playing an optic version of the GX2. It's supposed to be the G2C replacement. I love my Tauruses I own the G2C, GX4,Gx4 carry and the GX2. Now with that said G2C never had any issues with it and I still love to shoot it. GX4 never had any problems with the gun itself but I did get a faulty 13 round mag, Taurus sent me out a replacement 2 months later because they claimed they didn't have any in stock. My GX4 CARRY has run flawlessly since I have owned it, no issues at all. The GX2 has been nothing but problems since I got it. First problem I kept having light primer strikes every other round, second issue was I kept having a dead trigger after so many rounds of a mag. Third problem is that I sent my GX2 back to Taurus February 26 2025 and remind you, I bought it February 18 2025. They still haven't worked on my gun and I asked them could you all just send me a new one that works, because they have had my gun longer than I owned it. I'm so pissed off about it because I like how it shoots, but it's not reliable enough for me to trust it with my life. My other 3 Taurus children have been great and reliable. I just wish Taurus would get their customer service together and quality control. I had problems with my CZ p-09c Nocturne with failure to eject the shells. I sent my CZ back to the company and had my gun back in 3 weeks. They replaced the extractor and a few other parts and it's been running ever since.

Then I’ll wait for the TX9.
Charming_Ad_591@reddit
Let me know how the tx9 turn out. I hope it's better than this GX2

I totally agree. I've made that mistake one too many times myself. I appreciate you reminding of that fact. Patience is a struggle lol Fomo is real. It's really hard for monkeys to sell bananas.
As far as the gun goes, I think it is what it is. People make assumptions based on their personal prejudices or regurgitate parroted information they hear with absolutely zero first hand experience. Taurus makes cheap guns that punch well above their weight class. The shop that I work at sold over 1,500 guns last year, a significant portion of them were Taurus products. Warranty and repairs for them are significantly lower, as a percentage, than every legacy brand we sell. In addition, the US government pays, on average, around $250 for each Sig Sauer they buy. They cost less than $200 each to produce. There are always 2 sides to every argument and both have their own unique pros and cons. Anyway, sorry for rambling but this is always an interesting debate at the gun counter.
StanthemanT-800@reddit
I just bought one for exactly $239.99 😆
Taurus' are a cheap way to scratch the new gun itch , I use them as range toys with $200 a case Magtech steel case and I enjoy putting lots of rounds through them, and not having to gaf if they get dinged upÂ
I like the GX2, I have several G3s and a G3C. All my G3s have seen 1000s of trouble free rounds. The GX2 feels like a mini G3Â
The trigger is firm but it's a defensive gun not a target pistol. I honestly have been carrying it and I feel just fine with it. I've put 500 through it and it's reliable . It's surprisingly accurateÂ
All my 9s are full sizes except my G3C and this GX2 , I had wanted a Glock 43X but this GX2 fills the bill for now. Â
Desperate-Brush1004@reddit
Well you just got mine for $211 new. Took it out to range today . Many Jam ups . Mag dropping , failure of rack to stay open on last round. Tried more expensive critical defense rounds , Jamed up even more . My first Taurus and my last as far as semi auto is concerned . I did a lot of reasearch on this gun so I’m really disappointed. This is not the gun to depend on for home defense . Will be trading in for a revolver .Â
Lucky-Double-4494@reddit
I bought one. I like it. It’s fun at the range. It is currently my EDC. Conceals very well. If it randomly decides to shoot my dick off, I will promptly update this thread, and then sue Taurus for a new dick.
Should have waited for a TORO version, but eh. It was cheap at the gun show, and I haven’t bought a new release of anything in a while.
KSWind17@reddit
I have to say I'm somewhat tempted....but I'll wait and see how it does for a bit. Aside from ergonomics I can't see really where it's a monumental improvement over the G2C, which for me has been absolutely 100%. For the price it really is hard to ignore.
As far as a Taurus blowing up in your hand....every brand out there at some point has suffered the same thing at one time or another. Whether it's a gun failure or operator ignorance is the question. I've seen pics of P365s blown apart but I still don't worry about that happening to mine even though as with anything there's always that remote chance. After all, you're literally holding an explosion in your hands.
beelzebob909@reddit
Taurus is trash, plain and simple. I'd trust my life, or fingers, to a fucking yeet cannon before s Taurus.
If an LFS is selling you a Taurus, they should be ashamed.
"Feels good in the hand" yeah bud because you're not shooting it
Happy-Comedian-9468@reddit
My GX4 T.O.R.O is an amazing pistol!!! Does not fail, shoots true, shoots straight and fun as shit to shoot. Such is the case that it worked itself into my summer rotation. Not a Taurus fanboy, just relaying that there are indeed good ones.
beelzebob909@reddit
It's currently under recall.
SmoothConstruction57@reddit
Have a G3C and a TX22, zero issues with either. Have close to 6K rounds through the G3C. Lost count on the TX. Again, no problems. I would def hold for the TORO version, or upgrade the standard sights.
Sufficient_Win7279@reddit
The G3 series is still Taurus’s best release of firearms imo. I have two G3Cs, one in 9mm and another one in 40sw and both have given zero issues as well.
theother_mlk@reddit
To make a gun that cheap you are required to use lower quality materials, lower quality manufacturing processes, and have minimal quality control. That all equals lower quality product. You are better off spending a little more on a better quality product.
Sufficient_Win7279@reddit
The CZ P-10 can be found for $30-$50 more and that firearm is insanely inexpensive for its quality. Comes optic ready as well
Chrsst916@reddit
I must have a rare taurus.. no issues ever. The DA is great for laser dry fire systems
BryanP0824@reddit (OP)
That's just it, most of them are. I've had the same experience, 7th Taurus on layaway right now lol
jurnighan@reddit
Looks like the new hk cc9 lmao
direwolf106@reddit
So the Taurus looks like a Taurus? Because nearly everyone said the CC9 looked like a Taurus.
Kevthebassman@reddit
My first handgun was a Taurus. Way back when they first came out with the PT-111. You see, they said they had fixed all their quality and quality control issues, it was a totally different company.
After a few hundred rounds the recoil spring burped a few coils out of the front of the slide, live round stuck in the chamber and totally locked up.
The gun had to be put in a vise and beat with a dead blow hammer to open it. Sent it back to Taurus and got it back about five months later. First mag out of it, the recoil spring burped out again, same song and dance with vise and mallet. The shop I bought it from bought it back from me.
9mmx19@reddit
mfs will never learn that some pricing is just too good to be true and saving for better, is always better.
direwolf106@reddit
It’s not too good to be true, it’s just a gamble. They cut corners on quality control. So there’s shit ones and good ones. Get one that works and it punches way above its price point.
RandoAtReddit@reddit
But he loves me. He won't hit me again.
Kevthebassman@reddit
Maybe it was my fault!
A_Queer_Owl@reddit
maybe they really have. I'll leave that up to the people who find their fingers to be more expendable than I do to figure out, tho.
jasont80@reddit
It looks like a great value, but they shouldn't skimp on sights. Even Glock has better sights.
AM-64@reddit
I wouldn't touch a Taurus I know way too many people who have had serious issues with their Taurus guns.
island_trevor@reddit
Had a G3C for my first 9mm, had issues, sold it. Also had a 22lr Taurus revolver, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. The only good product they ever made was the TX22, which is as solid as any 22 handgun can be.
divok1701@reddit
Yes, I got a TX22, and it is an excellent polymer training pistol for my 13 yr old.
My Heritage Rough Rider revolver is excellent, too!
But I am very wary of anything made by Taurus.
myspamhere@reddit
A lot of taurus haters here. If they were making many defective guns, they would be sued out of existence like Jennings, Raven, Bryco... etc.
wtfredditacct@reddit
You don't have to be Jennings to be objectively bad
TheWhiteCliffs@reddit
Now set that down and pick up a CZ P-10c and tell me if you still think the Taurus feels good in the hand and well made. It’s $350-375 so a little more expensive, but you actually get sometime reliable.
CornGrowerAR@reddit
Get a PSA Dagger.
FamiliarTaro7@reddit
So we're posting paperweights now?
I'd rather defend myself with a pool noodle.
RabicanShiver@reddit
Range toy fine... I'd never trust one with my life. I've fired 3 Taurus pistols and all 3 were rife with mechanical issues that prevented consistent reliability.
My Springfield xd40 however has been rock solid reliable over several thousand rounds without a single jam, fail to feed, failure to eject etc.
BryanP0824@reddit (OP)
The new XD Mod 3 is one of my most recommended budget options. Hell of a gun for $299.
Alucard2nd@reddit
Not a gun I'd ever lay my life on nor recommend to anyone else. If you want a cheap range toy and you got the dough to blow and you don't care about quality, then fine maybe. But for anything serious I'd heavily go against a Taurus given their track record as a company.
Travy-D@reddit
I will always discourage Taurus. Trigger safety broke, terrible customer service, 12 months warranty turnaround hassle because they essentially forgot about me.Â
People pretend like its all subjective love/hate but they earn their hate. People keep asking about them only because of the price. This is absolutely a "get what you pay for" pistol.Â
Overall-Reach-5293@reddit
Fudds intro to modern handguns hmm yes thx for showing me several firearms that are miles ahead but I think I’ll still buy the pos Taurus
