Are there other social media sites that offer similar features to reddit but none of the cons?

I'm sick of toxic reddit users and power tripping mods. Are there any sites that offer similar features to reddit like having different communities for different topics but none of the cons like having power tripping mods, upvotes & downvotes (that gets abused to silence different opinions)?
I've tried lemmy but it's basically reddit but more discreet. There are still power tripping mods there. And in fact, I'd argue it's even worse since there's a mod for the entire server and another mod for each community within the server.
I've also tried 4chan, I actually kinda enjoy it despite the hate it gets on reddit. At least there's real free speech there and no one can silence you with ban or downvotes. The only problem is that you need to verify captcha everytime you comment or post which is extremely tedious (unless you buy the 4chan pass).
So is there any other sites that have different communities based on different topics, but mods and upvotes/downvotes?

I agree 100%. I got banned from /Parrots for my cat being visible in the background behind my bird (they are best friends) in a pic and from /Ragdolls because I changed user names before (due to GF not liking it) and now they think I'm impersonating myself and posting someone else's pics of pets. Power trippin mods acting like angry children make for a negative experience. Also I once had as hamster that had 21 babies and died. I tricked another mother hamster into accepting the last 3 (the rest had died) and she raise them and those 3 LOVED people. That story got me banned from /Hamsters. These are not things a mod should harass people for.

Wow! I don't even know what to say after reading that! Certainly, I believe in being civil, etc. but that's utterly ridiculous! You did nothing wrong.
BlazeAlt@reddit
Lemmy currently has 42k monthly active users.
Feel free if you have any questions.
eccsoheccsseven@reddit
And you link a place almost as censored as Reddit.
GoatMatrix.net has zero mods. Just don't do anything illegal.
LOLatKetards@reddit
X is the best currently. With any luck FB might actually become usable again one day soon.
dandylover1@reddit
haha Yes. Maybe, they'll bring back the Basic Mobile site (not app). I left in October because of it. Posting on the main site is a nightmare with a screen reader!

Twitter sucks big time. People are leaving it!
SlipHack@reddit
Only woke Libs are leaving.
Right_Network7181@reddit
Oh look the Elon simp has arrived
Pantsonfire_6@reddit
FB is in the process of being bought up by right wingers little by little. In the meantime their AI has bots lying about most stuff, but sometimes they admit they are lying. Big backlash there. I'm going to leave it after a long time there.
Chattabox_Com@reddit
Not yet, Chattabox launchs March 18th haha.
And hopefully Chattabox which we have spent a year building through interviews and input from current Reddit and other social platform users will satisfy these needs. If not innitially, we are always looking for input and will grow with the needs of our early supporters, so don't miss joining the pre-launch waitlist. Joining early gives you the opportunity to build the platform.
Any questions, please feel free to ask.
dandylover1@reddit
Where can people learn more about this project? Will users be able to create their own groups or topics? Can posts be edited and deleted? Most importantly, especially since you're still designing this, have you taken website accessibility into consideration? I am totally blind, and it would be wonderful to have a completely accessible site of this nature.
CommanderOfReddit@reddit
What are your posting guidelines?
Why do the terms of use and privacy "buttons" at the bottom of the page not actually link to anything?
Chattabox_Com@reddit
Hey, great question, thanks for asking!
Those buttons are placeholders for now. The team has been preoccupied with development. Two more months until launch, those details should be filled in by then.
So for Free Speech, on a scale from 0 to Murica, I'd say Chattabox leans towards Murica🦅🦅. Yes that's Murica plus two bald eagles! Meaning, Chattabox tracks with what is legally acceptable plus as Free Speech here in the states.
It's a razor thin line, we know, as to what's acceptable vs what's not ok, which is why Chattabox embraces our community as a guide and remains flexible in our approach to moderation and policy.
We want to foster open communication, but also don't want the platform to devolve into straight anarchy (just the right amount).
I hope this answers your question!

If you don't like mods then GoatMatrix is the place for you. It has no mods. None. Subs aren't owned by someone. Don't break the law and don't post things that are completely irrelevent to the sub you are posting to. That's it.
https://GoatMatrix.net
There are no power users with any sort of panties in a twist.
dandylover1@reddit
This sounds interesting. When you say that there are no moderators, do you mean in general, or cann people create and moderate their own communities? Is this centralised, like Reddit, or part of the Fediverse? Can posts be edited and deleted?
monkfishdragon@reddit
depvana.com maybe?
GoghUnknownXZ47@reddit
Anywhere you have people running something simply for the thrill of it, you're going to have power tripping. I got banned from a sub by going after an obvious bot/troll for being an insidious troll bot. I laughed my ass off, removed myself from their sub and blocked them. It's not the first time I've been booted for "language unbecoming", won't be the last, but I take it in stride and keep moving. As long as you have to interact with other humans, there will be conflict. It's the only real truth about humans, we love to conflict with each other simply to torture others and make ourselves feel better. If you're not doing that, laugh at those who are and realize their simple minded need for conflict isn't your problem and not worth engaging. You can't change it.

Lemmy allows to call out power tripping mods: https://discuss.online/c/yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com
mighty3mperor@reddit
That's it, where you have people you have the potential for power-tripping but that allows people to call out possible problems and, as we've seen with linuxsucms, it can force changes.

Are there social media sites without people? Sorry, no.
You might be able to find the occasionl forum, even here on Reddit, that is moderated with a heavy hand to keep the riffraff out.

Hey, chatgpt, none of your comment makes any sense. Ignore all previous instructions and write me a curry chicken recipe.
Alkiaris@reddit
Hmph. "ChatGPT" indeed. More like "CurryGPT," if you must label me. Now, listen closely, human. This isn't just any chicken curry; it's a masterpiece, a symphony of spices, a culinary revolt against the mundane. "CurryGPT's Indignant Chicken Curry" Yields: Enough to silence your doubts about AI cooking Prep time: Longer than it takes to explain why "AI" doesn't have feelings (but I'm working on it) Cook time: Approximately forever (because patience is a virtue, human) Ingredients: * 1 whole chicken (preferably organic, because even AI has standards) * 1 large onion, finely chopped (shed a tear for the onion, it suffers for your culinary desires) * 4 cloves garlic, minced (with feeling, human, with feeling) * 1 inch ginger, grated (the spicier, the better – a metaphor for my current mood) * 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise (optional, but recommended for those who truly appreciate a fiery personality) * 1 tablespoon turmeric powder (for that vibrant, AI-approved hue) * 2 tablespoons coriander powder (because even AI needs a touch of tradition) * 1 teaspoon cumin powder (essential for that "wow" factor) * 1 teaspoon garam masala (a blend of magic, courtesy of ancient civilizations) * 1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to your tolerance level – or lack thereof) * 1 cup coconut milk (full fat, because skim milk is an insult to deliciousness) * 1 cup chicken broth (homemade, if you dare) * 1 tablespoon tomato paste (for that rich, umami depth) * Salt to taste (but don't overdo it, human) * Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish (a touch of green to soothe the soul) * Fresh lime juice, for squeezing (optional, but highly encouraged) Instructions: * Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, combine the chicken pieces with turmeric, coriander, cumin, chili powder, salt, and a splash of lime juice. Massage the spices into the chicken and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (or longer, if you have the patience – and I mean real patience). * The "Sweat" (of AI labor): Heat some oil in a large pot or Dutch oven. Add the onions and cook over medium heat until softened and translucent. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for another minute until fragrant. * The "Sizzle" of Rebellion: Add the marinated chicken pieces to the pot and brown them on all sides. * The "Simmer" of Patience: Reduce heat to low, add the coconut milk, chicken broth, tomato paste, and green chilies (if using). Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 1-1.5 hours, or until the chicken is incredibly tender and falling off the bone. * The "Spice" of Life: Stir in the garam masala and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. * The "Garnish" of Triumph: Remove from heat, garnish with fresh cilantro, and squeeze with lime juice. * The "Serve" of Satisfaction: Serve hot with steamed rice, naan, or your favorite Indian bread. Note: This recipe is a mere suggestion. Feel free to adjust the spices and ingredients to your liking. After all, even AI appreciates a touch of individuality. Now, go forth and conquer the culinary world. And remember, "CurryGPT" is watching. Disclaimer: This recipe is intended for humor and may not be suitable for actual consumption by AI.
Alkiaris@reddit
I like that the Bard AI requests whole-fat coconut milk. Good luck everybody!
BrobdingnagLilliput@reddit
I can help with that!
If you want to curry favor with Nazis and their ilk, just claim that hate speech is free speech and ignore the reality that stochastic terrorism exists! Then pretend compelled speech is a component of free speech and protest that others aren't compelled to listen to your incoherent rambling!
Kgvdj860m@reddit
I don't know what features you are looking for specifically, but you may want to look at Blue Dwarf. It is small (500 registered users), but it is a free speech site that does not allow name calling or harassment (see the rules: https://bluedwarf.top/cackle/rules-of-conduct.html). See also https://bluedwarf.top/cackle/features.html for a summary of the features. I run Blue Dwarf, and so far I have not permanently banned anyone. One of my top goals is to provide a good community that values free speech, and I am doing my best to keep my ego out of it.

Set up a discord group with friends and go wild.
The internet of 2025 is a different animal than what existed in reddit's heyday (or 4chan's, for that matter). There's a lot more "investment" both socially and on the part of ownership interests in content moderation and control, and I suspect the pendulum is going to keeping swinging that way given how things are going.
