12 hour night shifts on CCTV working alone although it's 04.38 now so just over 2 hours to go.

Working in telly, not on a channel that I imagine huge numbers of people will be watching today (though I suppose that goes for any channel that's not BBC One), but it's a 24/7 thing so someone's got to be in the chair. Fully stocked on chocolates, mince pies, crisps etc. so it could be worse.

Not started yet. Sat here feeling sorry for myself and blowing my nose every 5 minutes. 2 Hours until start time (7pm) but at least I only have to commute about 100ft to my work laptop. Suspect I will spend the 12 hours waiting for something to happen and then complaining vociferously if it does as it will interrupt my yearly rewatch of Inside No. 9. Could be worse - like tomorrow when I'm back in the office!

I'm working 2-10pm in neonatal and paediatric transport. It's usually quiet as they don't tend to repatriate on Christmas day if they can help it, so it's just urgent stuff that comes through.

Had to utilise breakdown recovery on Monday, tyre burst on the M27 roadworks heading eastbound. Not even 10 minutes before your colleagues arrived to whisk me to safety. Took me to a garage he knew in Hedge End rather than dropping me somewhere waiting for a mobile fitter, what a star. Merry Christmas, thanks for the work you do!

My wife's currently cooking Xmas dinner for probably 30 people at a care home, residents, family and staff and as soon as that's served, starts making party food for their tea. Just her and a kp and no extra pay.

Fire control - came in early to let night shift go home, currently had just the one job which was burnt cooking, currently waiting on a bacon sandwich made by our operational firefighters downstairs who are also cooking Christmas dinner later. Other than that it’s business as normal - making sure all the crews have what they need and there’s good fire coverage in the county.
