What’s your non-traditional Christmas food that has become a tradition in your household?

We put pasta sauce in yorkshire puddings (immigrant family that only understood christmas from tv and photos so we thought this made sense.) It tastes unbelievable and when I first had gravy in a yorkshire pudding I was absolutely appalled and couldn’t believe people ate this and not the pasta sauce. It’s the highlight of Christmas for my family. This year I’m spending Christmas with another family for the first time (partner’s family), and his mum is going to make the pasta sauce because I told him I can’t imagine Christmas without out. I can’t recommend it enough - garlic fried in butter, add mushrooms, then add boursin cheese and cream. add parsley. occasionally we add spinach or sweetcorn depending on mood. finish with parmesan. make a really nice thick cheesy mushroom sauce which then pairs with the doughy crispness of the puddings. Just unbelievable stuff. Our family main is also pasta pie. Logic being my parents saw photos of wellingtons and as Indians didn’t know what to put inside and went “english people eat a lot of pasta” so they make that as rhe centrepiece.
