Scion iQ EV, only 90 made

I found 3 of these iQ EVs at the same house in San Francisco! These were only sold to fleet customers and only 90 of them were made for the US
No-Focus874@reddit
The problem with these products is that they have battery size limitations and as they age those batteries become even worse. Places with hills, like SF, the batteries running even faster on inclines. Then you add, people in these cities who want them don't have a home charger. ... Now you begin to see the issue.
BubblyBandicoot9962@reddit
No way i walked by this house on new years day and saw these too. Shocked me.
AnjunaZach29@reddit
What?! I knew Toyota made an EV version of the IQ overseas, but I never knew California got the Scion version too!
dirty_hooker@reddit
I feel like this could be a riot if built for short sprints rather than distance.
righthandofdog@reddit
Which is what all evs should be built for. Its the perfect second car for commuting of high school kids
dirty_hooker@reddit
Noooo. High school kids should be limited in power and top speed for a few years. Long range and slow EVs definitely have a use and the reality is that use covers 95% of commuters. I definitely see a potential to offer it in a TRD trim though.
burner94_@reddit
Close enough - there's a GR one as a JDM exclusive And it's supercharged.
righthandofdog@reddit
oh something like a kei car would he better still. But way too many high school kids have a used SUV with the idea that they'll be safer in something big. So they are in big, heavy, powerful vehicles while the worst drivers they'll ever be.

That looks like a Smart Fortwo, which I pronounce:
Fort
Whoa
Maps_Spotter_222@reddit (OP)
No way, I found a fellow FortWhoa-er!
cgduncan@reddit
90 made, and 30 of them for sale on cars dot com lol
Maps_Spotter_222@reddit (OP)
Yep! Only 90 of the EV version, the gas version is still very common and mass produced
jabroni4545@reddit
Never knew they even existed.
LightningFerret04@reddit
This was me walking into the Sacramento auto museum and seeing a first gen RAV4 in the middle of the EV display

Growing up my best friends neighbor had one. Bought it new He was a HUGE EV nerd. He modified the shut outs that thing. We all thought he was weird for liking EV’s and their sophisticated electrickery back then. Turns out he was just decades ahead of the curve.
He was super nice tho. If anybody in the neighborhood ever needed an electrical part of some sort, or an electric thing fixed, he always had the part. His entire house was an intricate shelving system.

Now I'm imagining what a theoretical Aston Martin Cygnet EV would be like
gordonronco@reddit
Aston Martin Cygnet and Colette
“Sounds like a lap dancing duo from Leeds”

Ai to the rescue!
ErikQRoks@reddit
Absolutely not
DiosMIO_Limon@reddit
Okay, nevermind, Ai…they said “no.” Wait—what? You pre-gamed? Why?? Just go home, Ai. You’re drunk…
Bonald9056@reddit
Someone needs to call Aging Wheels so he can add this to his growing fleet of bizarre EVs
gordonronco@reddit
Surprisingly this would be mundane in his collection, but I can see him doing a video with someone else’s
doabarrelroll69@reddit
He should it's cooler cousin, the Aston Martin Cygnet.
Wojtas_@reddit
Holy cow, I thought they were all crushed!
I'm really glad to know that some made their way to private hands. I would love to have one of them!
DeadlyHellhound@reddit
Ah geez, i can only imagine the range on the little guy.
Beatus_Vir@reddit
and where they were able to hide the battery. the gas tank is the size of a bedpan, and lives outside the unibody
benmarvin@reddit
Only needs enough range to get you from your big city condo to your super car parking garage across town.
kc_chiefs_@reddit
EPA said 121 mpg equivalent. NEDC range was 50 miles.
pututski@reddit
I love the Scion IQ
ashyjay@reddit
Odd there's an even rarer version than the already rare Cygnet.
xqk13@reddit
Wow this is one of the very few usdm cars that I have never heard of, nice spot.
After_Blood1286@reddit
They may of made 90 but how many of the 90 did they sell.
Maps_Spotter_222@reddit (OP)
I know 30 were allocated for a ride share program in irvine, and another 30 for a ride share program in pleasanton
warrensussex@reddit
They were for fleet customers so I bet they sold all 90.
After_Blood1286@reddit
Yeah true there’s a sucker born every minute. So they probably did sell them all.
Jonny2881@reddit
My dumb ass was about to say it looks like a rip-off of a Toyota iQ lmao
Tiny-Spray-1820@reddit
Scion is a toyota subsidiary

Paper-street-garage@reddit
They should’ve made more of these if they had a decent enough range perfect for big cities
paxsnacks@reddit
Scion iq

funky little runabout .
